Story time.
Sabekwe was my late paternal grandmothers Indian name. It meant Big/Strong Woman. My uncle who passed this October said I should name my business in her honor so I did, and I felt it was fitting since it would support people become bigger stronger versions of themselves. But the logo I choose represents my grandmothers on both sides of my family.
The Tiger Lily was my Grandmas favorite flower, and it reminds me of the summers I spent at her home because she always had some growing in her flower bed. The vines represent my other grandmother who passed in 2022, my grandma Ivy. These women were my two favorite people and carrying this imagery with me reminds me that no matter what life has to throw at me they are always watching and always proud.
I feel their warmth and presence when I look at this photo.
