There is a platform for all citizens of Canada to offer input on the Federal Budget prior to it being read in Parliament. This gives Massage Therapist's across Canada, as well as their patients, and any Canadian, the opportunity to express their desire to change the HST status as it applies to RMT services/sessions/treatments.

Based on interactions with the Government more recently since the previous election, there is a possibility that our request is going to be represented in this spring's Federal Budget. If this is the case, it would be advantageous to have a larger number of people taking the Government's pre-budget Questionnaire on their website prior to the deadline of February 10, 2023.

The questionnaire will take about five minutes to answer and will be available until February 10, 2023. You can also upload a file with more specific information using the "send formal submission" button.

This means that we will focus on the collective theoretical works behind the application and use of these types of tapes for every-day help, to injury recovery needs. We will delve into the possible reasons, listed by several of the brands, for why this tape may work, and dispel some of the ideas that are not backed by research, or the decades it has been around.

This course is done in one day, and covers everything you'll ever need to be able to use Kinesiology Tape in your practice right away, and in ways that matches the "levels" many courses offer. This is accomplished by first by removing the typical re-hash of learning what you did in school. If you want to re-learn kinesiology, anatomy, physiology, treatments, and/or pathology; you can do so with personal time ahead of the course. At the course you'll learn about what you came for: Kinesiology Taping.

With this session all participants will receive a starter kit for taping, including kinesiology tape and proper scissors.

A lot of people think, to look at, the long contracts are scary, but nothing could be further from the truth it is the short ones that are the scariest, and I'll tell you why:

The contract you have, whether you are the contractor or the sub-contractor, is your living document that defines how your working relationship will be. Anything that arises throughout your professional relationship should be able to be referenced back to your contract, and If not the contract, some form of policy book. Wuthout it; too much is left in the air.

The more involved, and comprehensive, the contract is; the better your professional relationship is going to be because most everything is knowing ahead of time for how to handle it. Or what will occur in certain situations.

Who's responsible for cleaning? It's in the contract.

Who is responsible for collecting money primarily? It's in the contract.

Will there be a representation on the web page? It's in the contract.

What happens when the professional relationship comes to an end? It's in the contract.

The more comprehensive the contract, the less headaches there will be.

Sure, others can believe in you, from the outside world. But no one else can believe in you from inside, except for you.

That's it! No big speech just believe in your damn self, each and every day you wake up.

RMT's, manual therapists, want to get to the root of your patient's presented issues? Be "Sherlock Holmes".

Perform your full assessment(Ax) at the beginning, and partial (because you have your initial Ax) every single time. It is impossible to help your patient if you do not hear them.

Listen to their words.

The patient is the single greatest source for the health history. They know more than they realize. Ask the probing questions, critically. Follow up with relevant inquiries as reation to what they have told you. Get what you need. But also learn to avoid the "rabbit holes". The information that is of no help, medically, to you.

Listen to their body.

Perform your Orthopaedic Tests. Be diligent. Do NOT perform tests to prove yourself right, do tests to try and prove yourself wrong. Think they have Carpal Tunnel? Try and prove it is TOS, or tendinitis, or Trigger Point referrals, or whatever. Be your own worst critic. Once you rule out everything else, what is left, must be, with the greater probability.

Never let your patient rush you.

Take the time you need. You are not "wasting time", ever. 10 minutes of testing to determine the cause, can save several appointments of chasing the wrong thing.

Ever have a patient tell you exactly what "their problem" is, and that they have tried everything? That, right there, is a rule-out test: IF treatment for "issue A" has never worked, maybe it is because "issue B" needs the work.

Take the 10 minutes to find what "Issue B" is. This will be what sets you apart as a good therapist. Not the style you use, not the techniques you use; finding the source and properly treating it.

Many in business have heard this saying before, and if you haven't; this is a chance to learn it.

Each entrepreneur's journey is different. But they all start out behind the scenes, or in the dark, if you will. Planning for that day you will open can be a lot of work. It's work that may be done in anonymity, or with a large crew. But it takes work nonetheless.

Unfortunately, some people can get very used to the phase that they are in and never get past "pre-launch planning". No matter how good your idea, or your plan, is; unless you bring it into the light no one will ever know what you're doing.

This is something that I have had troubles with before, I am no stranger to this. Not at all. So, this is my time to step out into the light and let everyone know what Atlas Consulting & Education is about in this endeavour.

Right now I'm turning a great deal of my creative juices towards helping others with their businesses. I have gained a lot of experience, and a lot of knowledge, throughout my RMT career since 2000. I have learned the laws of practicing massage therapy in the Regulatored Provinces, as well as some States. The laws for Ontario I know almost like the back of my hand. And the things I don't know, I know where to find them relatively quickly. It is my extensive knowledge of the professions of Massage Therapy, and manual Therapies, that I am putting out there for people to take advantage of.

I can help with; new businesses, existing businesses, transitional businesses, you name it. Anything from business Concepts, to asking for variances in bylaws of a city, to dealing with lawyers, to negotiating contracts between clinics and professionals.

Everyone needs to step out into their own light so they can blossom. This will be mine in the world of Consulting. Let me help you step into your light.

Monday the 20th of July, and many MT's are working again.

Get your week going with your best foot forward. What you bring with you today, and every day, will determine your business base.

Be present with a great attitude. It does not matter all the cleaning, sterilizing, linen changes, masks you wear, or any other changes you have to do now, and the time involved to do them: Do not bring any angst you harbour into your business space.

This is not *because* of your patients, it is *for* them .

Let your business, and your practice, re-grow from all that has occurred over the last several months. Grow it right, and it will flourish again. Stick to your rules. Do not let others intimidate you into circumventing all that you must follow. Stay strong, and hold strong.

Bring the best intentions into the day: Be the best therapist for your patients. Follow all rules to keep them as safe as you can. Show that they are the cornerstone of everything you do day-to-day.

Be your best.

As the Province "re-opens", conscientious Registered Massage Therapists are doing everything they can to minimize risk, and gradually return to work.

The orders by the minister of health, and our College, make it clear that we need to be very diligent in protecting our patients before anything else.

Making a proper plan to return to work, so that we can safely administer therapy to our patients, while maintaining high standards of sanitization, and cleanliness, in full accordance with legislation, will be our top priority.

We are working to get to a point where we can see everybody once again. During this critical phase one of the return-to-work Directive, we need to be hyper diligent not to increase anyone's risk, or to create a possible increase to that all important curve.

Your health care is very important to us, and we will get people in when it is possible.

Thank you for your understanding, and everything that you've done to help protect the population of this province along with us.

There are many resources at their about the topic of biopsychosocial model of healthcare. Utilize this time to get familiar with what this means, and how massage therapy can be integrated into the totality of the model.

We need to work with other health professionals, as a team, to achieve the best results using this model. If you better understand how it works, you will better understand what your role is in the grand scheme of things when it comes to Patient Care.

The biopsychosocial model views health and illness behaviors as products of biological characteristics (such as genes), behavioral factors (such as lifestyle, stress, and health beliefs), and social conditions (such as cultural influences, family relationships, and social support). Health psychologists work with healthcare professionals and patients to help people deal with the psychological and emotional aspects of health and illness.
