Miel Creasey Fine Art Contemporary paintings depicting the history of land on British Columbia's Coast.

Through researching and exploring the history of an area I use my visual documentation as a type of study. Impressions are formed by layering and washing away paint applications, developing the landscape in a way which reflects its emotional and physical history. With the use of these varied paint applications and the transferring of both historical and current photographs the landscape begins to narrate its specific history. The images create small pockets of history where the viewer is able to enter the painting and take a step back in time. By taking these images from their original contexts and appropriating them within my work I am able to depict numerous periods of time within one image. The land is explored through its history; symbolic imagery from this history creates conceptual and narrative readings within the work. A telephone pole may juxtapose with a totem, a cluster of English roses with a patch of stinging nettle, or a church with a hospital – each lends itself to a message.

Finished up this piece the other day 》 titled 'Eden Grove Giant '

It will be displayed for a month long show at the Tidal Art Gallery in Finn Bay (Lund). The Show is titled Flora: Precarious Bounty and will run from June 26th to July 18th.

The show will explore the botanical world woven into the realms of art and science. Serving as a muse for inspiration and a reminder of our mortality, Floral art fosters connections to both the bounty and precariousness of the plant world.

Healthy biodiverse forests are an abundant source of inspiration, provoking peaceful contentment, wonder, gratitude, love and awe. They are our greatest gift and should be cherished as such.

☆ will update more info regarding the show as I find out more! If you have yet to be to the Tidal Art Centre in Lund I highly recommend it! It was somewhat recently renovated from the old forestry building in Finn Bay to an incredible art gallery with an artists in residence space situated above. It is nestled right in Finn Bay (just past Lund gazebo & Jacks Boatyard), a glorious renovated old building surrounded by bountiful gardens & overlooking the ocean.

Just got this piece back from the framers - loving its moody vibe with green & teal tones 》 this is how the forest feels to me when the light begins to return and Spring is in the air.

Originally when I went to the framers i had light warm woody tones in mind and came out choosing this beautiful dark walnut frame. I think it perfectly accentuates the deep browns in the painting don't you?

》 as of tomorrow this piece will be displayed at .pr !

And yes it is for sale 🍃 pm me for details
