Happy National Dental Hygiene week to our hygienists here at MDH and hygienists across Canada!

This spring marks 7 years now that I’ve been practicing as a registered dental hygienist. And just over 18 months since Macklin Dental Hygiene has opened. I am so grateful for the support our clinic has received from this community. Having a space of my own to provide dental hygiene care has been a dream come true. Our goal is to make preventative hygiene care accessible, safe, comfortable and personalized for each patient. I am proud to be a dental hygienist and to be able to offer these essential services in our rural area.

This year’s theme for NDHW26 is “Oral Health for Total Health”. The mouth is the gateway to the body and we know that our oral health can directly impact our overall health. Gum disease is linked to heart disease, diabetes and more, prevention is so important.

Let this be your sign whether if it’s been 6 months or 10 years since your last professional cleaning, book the appointment. 🦷✨

February is Heart Month. We encourage you to check out our fact sheet that explains how oral health affects heart health. Daily brushing, flossing, and rinsing help prevent harmful bacteria from growing. These bacteria can cause gum disease and enter your bloodstream, where they may affect your heart and increase the risk of serious conditions.

Be sure to download and print this resource in either English or French.
