Some food for thought on "Honour Roll":
In our home, we lead with an understanding of the nervous system. We respond rather than react. We co-regulate so our kids can return to a place where they feel safe, connected, and ready to learn - not every child has this support.
One of our children fits neatly into the small "box" of the school system—achieving honour roll, excelling in traditional academics, and thriving within structured expectations. We celebrate their hard work and achievements.
Our other child doesn’t fit that box. They learn differently, think differently, and experience the world in a way that doesn’t always align with grades, test scores, or standard measures of success. And we celebrate them just as much.
We know intelligence isn’t just about marks. It’s in creativity, emotional depth, problem-solving, and resilience. It’s in how a child sees the world, navigates challenges, and brings their unique gifts to life.
So yes, we’re proud of our honour roll student. But we’re also profoundly proud of the one who learns outside the lines. Because every child is worthy, seen, and celebrated—whether or not they fit inside the box. ❤️
