🌿 Community Question 🌿

I was recently asked if I offer respite care, and it really got me thinking…

As many of you know, GouldWood Meadows is all about creating a peaceful, supportive space for rest, healing, and connection with nature (and of course, the horses ).

I wanted to ask the community — would there be interest in private respite care here at the farm or even off-site?

This would be a gentle, 1:1 care option for individuals who may need a calm, supportive environment while their caregivers take a much-needed break.

Just exploring the idea and would love to hear your thoughts or if this is something that might be helpful for families in our area.

I’m thinking of hosting a Breathing Circle in the coming weeks and wanted to see if there would be interest in joining this peaceful and grounding experience.

Our Breathing Circle is a gentle gathering designed to help you reconnect with yourself, your breath, and the present moment — all while being supported by the calming energy of our equine friends. Horses have an incredible ability to sense and mirror our emotions, helping guide us into deeper awareness, stillness, and balance.

During this session, we’ll focus on mindful breathing techniques, grounding practices, and heart-centered connection — both within ourselves and with the horses who share the space with us. It’s an opportunity to slow down, release tension, and find harmony in both body and spirit.

They say “no hoof, no horse”—and it’s true. A horse’s hooves are their foundation, carrying not only their weight but also their freedom, their grace, and their spirit. Every step they take begins with the hoof, every journey—whether long or short—is guided by the strength of those four sacred pillars.

Physically, their hooves connect bone, tendon, and muscle to the living earth beneath them. They carry miles of history, of journeys made beside humans, of quiet moments in pastures, and of wild runs beneath the open sky. Their hooves are their grounding, their anchor, and their protection. When we care for their hooves, we are not just maintaining their health—we are safeguarding their ability to move freely, to dance, to run, and to live as they were meant to live.

Spiritually, a horse’s hoof holds deep symbolism. Each strike upon the earth is like a drumbeat of the soul, reminding us of rhythm, of balance, of the importance of staying grounded even as we move forward. Their hooves are a bridge between the physical and the spiritual—the place where heaven’s breath meets the soil of the earth. On our recent journey, we were gifted with the sight of seven beautiful black bears — each one a reminder of nature’s deep wisdom and the quiet messages it carries. 🐻✨

In many traditions, the bear is a powerful spiritual guide. It embodies strength and courage, yet also teaches us about rest, introspection, and balance. Bears remind us that there is a time to act with fierce protection and a time to retreat inward for renewal.

Seeing seven bears feels especially meaningful — seven is a sacred number often tied to spiritual awakening, divine alignment, and inner growth. It feels like a message to trust the cycles of life, to honor both our power and our stillness, and to remember that we are always supported by something greater than ourselves.

Witnessing these majestic beings in their natural rhythm was not just a moment of wonder — it was a blessing, a gentle nudge to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with our own inner wildness and wisdom. 🌿💫
