Exciting news! 📣 Today, the Government of Canada announced a contract award of $9.47 million to revitalize the Rouge Beach and Marsh area in .
This investment will:
✅ address shoreline erosion and flooding to support the long-term sustainability of this area for wildlife and visitors;
✅ restore, re-naturalize and connect key wetland and forest habitats, improving conditions for native species and species at risk;
✅ enhance visitor facilities, including improvements to the upper beach parking area and a new permanent washroom facility;
✅ improve accessibility in one of the park’s most popular and ecologically significant areas, including a renewed entrance area; and
✅ create a new accessible 2.3 km trail linking Lake Ontario to Mast Trail, with elevated boardwalks to protect sensitive habitats while providing safe visitor access.
The Rouge Beach Improvements Project is guided by meaningful engagement with Indigenous partners, stakeholders and the public, reflecting ’s commitment to protecting nature, strengthening community connections and enhancing visitor experiences for generations to come.
