The Creative Children Society will oversee our arts display.

Michelle and I are hoping our friends, partners & neighbours could come to support our meaningful show.

Whether someone is a cat person, a dog person, a rabbit person or even a horse person, there’s one certain thing that all animal lovers can agree on, and that is the fantastic work that is carried out by veterinarians in care of animals.

World Veterinary Day is our chance to give a big thanks to the medical professionals who keep our dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, rodents and all other manner of creatures healthy and happy.

So give a shout-out to your favourite vet here!.

International Guide Dog Day
Guide dogs do a great deal for their owners. Not only do they help guide their owners throughout the day, but they also protect them from harm, assist them with tasks, and provide consistent emotional support like no other. Guide dog trainers work hard to help these loyal partners to hone these skills.

Here are some interesting facts about Guide Dogs that will make it even more fun to celebrate this day:

The most common guide dogs breeds are German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers. Sometimes poodles are even used.

Training and socializing guide dogs begins when they are very young puppies, often when the pups reach about 8 weeks. Some organizations even have their own breeding facilities.

Don’t pet a working guide dog! While guide dogs are in their harnesses, they are at work and can be distracted if people try to pet them..

National Pet Day celebrates the joy that pets bring into people's lives and encourages people to help reduce the number of animals in shelters. Bringing humans and animals together helps make the world a better place.

For the animals who don’t have homes, many people don’t realize the benefits of adopting a pet. Even those animals who are old can become some of the greatest gifts in life.

So if you want to celebrate National Pet Day by getting a pet, please consider adoption as your option.

We have a number of pet-related educational materials in thebenjaminproject.ca store (and through the education program), including the creative writing prompts to get you or your kids writing about your pets!

Follow us to learn more about the Get A Pet game we are creating to help families get the conversation started about the emotions, time and money that goes into adding a pet to your family.

World Rat Day
Rat owners can take this day to pamper and love their little friends a little extra. Don’t have a rat? Visit one in a pet store, read about them, or watch Ratatouille!

Unfortunately, they’ve had a bit of bad press over the years, but once you get to know rats on a one-to-one basis, then all of their finer qualities will come to the fore. World Rat Day hopes to dispel the stigma surrounding these creatures and celebrate them instead!.

World Aquatic Animal Day
Did you know the ocean contains about a million different species? Learn about marine life, visit an aquarium, or raise awareness about the threats to the ocean. World Aquatic Animal Day is centered around humans taking the time to learn about and acknowledge the importance of all of these creatures who make their homes in the water. When we Know Better We Do Better.

Share your favourite aquatic animal - or tell us something you learned today about one!

Children's Picture Book Day is the best day to promote Benjamin, our picture book about the little dog that inspired so much - including The Benjamin Project.

This book is available from thebenjaminproject.ca website and all profits from sales of the book are donated to support animal wellness charities around the world.

There is also a presentation version of the book available in the Education program. .
