I am thrilled to share my exciting news with fellow therapists from all professions! I am available to train clinical mental health staff
in the first level of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (Basic ART Training) after May 23, 2025 right here In Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as other locations elsewhere on the continent where ART training is requested. To be eligible to attend a three day Basic ART training, therapists must have completed a university level masters degree with a focus in clinical counselling. If interested, please reach out and I will provide instructions on how to register a group or an individual in Basic Art Training through RCRR.
ART focuses on resolving symptoms associated with acute trauma, such as PTSD resulting from exposure to trauma scenes, and generalized issues, including GAD, general depression, relational issues, workplace issues or any ongoing current problem area. ART also systematically addresses symptoms of more pervasive concurrent and complex issues, including psychosomatic pain, performance anxiety, ADHD, depression, social anxiety, sleep issues, emotional eating behaviours, workplace stress, memory enhancement problems, dyslexia, childhood abandonment, grief, low self esteem, anger, complex grief, childhood negative cognitions, codependency, and childhood sexual, emotional and physical abuses, to name a few.
ART accesses a person’s natural problem solving and creativity centres to resolve issues non-verbally, imaginally, without sharing details after negative sensations and emotions are processed out of the body, after viewing images of the problem.
People love ART because it does not require you to share details. Sharing your details is optional but not required in order for ART to resolve issues, as trauma is stored in unconditional visual, emotional, body and sensory centres, not the language area of the brain. Hence the saying “have the cat hot your tongue” when people are too scared to speak. The less talking you do, the better ART works!
About me: I am a Masters Certified ART clinician, meaning I have completed all four training levels (Basic, Advanced, Enhanced and SAFTT) and the required certification exam. I have also completed a Masters of Social Work with a clinical counselling concentration from Willard Laurier University. Additionally, in 1997, I graduated from the University of Victoria’s with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Sociology and English) and I have a one year Criminology Certificate also for the same institution. In addition to Art Masters Certification, I have also successfully completed level 1 and level 2 training requirements for Gottman Couples Therapy. I have foundational Dialectical Behavioural Therapy training for individual and groups.
As a current complex issues clinician with NL Health Services, with 16 of 28 years exclusive clinical therapy experience overall, combined with clinical services offered as owner of Mary Williams Fewer Counselling Services, I have completed thousands of counselling sessions and many hundreds of ART sessions to date.
Specifically, my passion lies in treating trauma and PTSD for first responders, firefighters, EMR staff, nurses, doctors, RCMP, Canadian Armed Forces personnel, Veterans Affairs Canada retirees and OHS personnel. I am also passionate about treating victims of trauma related to childhood and adult abuses/victimization (sexual, physical, emotional).
You deserve the ART of Healing.
