Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, when we remember transgender, Two-Spirit, and gender non-conforming people who lost their lives to violence. It's also a reminder to learn about violence affecting the transgender community. We want to support people in our Grebel community who are trans or gender non-conforming. Yesterday, this prayer written by Jay McDonald-Lee, a Grebel student, was shared in Chapel:

God,
You are with us as we grieve during Trans Day of Remembrance.
Help us to say the right things to those who are grieving.
Help us to call people by the right names and pronouns.
We know we are forgiven when we get it wrong,
We know how life saving it can be.
Today we pray for people who lost their lives to violence.
Those recorded and unrecorded
May their memories be a blessing.
We, trans and gender non-conforming people, are loved and worthy of life,
may we feel that.
May those who have died know that they are welcome in your halls,
and may they be at peace many were denied at the time of their death.
Their memories are a blessing.
May we stop being blessings and be able to be alive.
Amen

Have you listened to the latest episode of the Ministry Forum Podcast?

Rev. John sits down with Rev. Dr. Hyun Jin (Pablo) Kim Sun, Intercultural Liaison for The Presbyterian Church in Canada, to talk about what it means to build a truly intercultural church. Drawing on insights from his book Building Mennonite Belonging: Toward an Intercultural Church, Pablo reflects on belonging, power, and the tension between love and justice in our faith communities. Together, they explore the difference between multicultural, cross-cultural, and intercultural ministry, and how the Canadian church can move beyond tokenism toward genuine transformation. With characteristic warmth and depth, Pablo invites listeners to see diversity not as a challenge to be managed but as a gift that strengthens the whole ecosystem of the church.

Skiing is great cross-training for taijiquan! I grew up skiing on the slopes of Sir Sam's and the resilient, springy quality that one cultivates in the legs to ski well is very similar to the what the term "song" means in our taijiquan practice. In taijiquan, we want the entire body to be imbued with that resilient, springy quality so that it has enough structure to offer resistance but also enough relaxation to absorb incoming force. The end result in both cases should be something that can yield and bend so it doesn't break by being too stiff while also not being so yielding and bendy that we just flop over or collapse entirely.

As my taijiquan instructor has said, everything we do is training. When we think of it that way, the key is to be mindful of HOW we are training our body and mind.

Leonids are back, back, back…Shooting stars again, ‘gain, ‘gain! ✨

The Leonid meteor shower is rolling through November night sky again, and it’s another chance to look up and make wishes.

🗓️ Best time to watch: Nights of November 16 and 17.
🌚 Moon? Barely visible. Perfect to stargaze.
💫 Expect around 10–15 meteors per hour under dark skies

So bundle up, head somewhere cozy and dark, and get ready to spot those streaks of light.
