Gladys has been a proud Montreal Canadiens fan for as long as she can remember. She’s shared her love for hockey with her grandsons and never missed a game on TV—but she had never seen her team live…until now.

Thanks to Chartwell Wish of a Lifetime - Rêver pour la vie, Gladys got the full VIP treatment: a new jersey, limo ride, and seats at Scotiabank Arena to watch her beloved Habs take on the Leafs, surrounded by her family.

Residents from Chartwell Crescent Gardens in Surrey, BC, showed up to the Langley Christmas Wish Breakfast with toys in hand and purpose in their hearts. Among them was Jack, 91, an Allied Army veteran and past wish recipient through Chartwell Wish of a Lifetime - Rêver pour la vie. Earlier this year, Jack fulfilled his dream of returning to the water for a salmon fishing adventure.

Now for a third year, Jack and fellow residents Kees, June, John and Pat joined thousands of others helping ensure local families can experience the joy of Christmas.

This is what giving looks like when it comes full circle. One moment inspires the next. One act sparks another. One granted wish leads to more wishes fulfilled.

Veteran's Spotlight 🇨🇦

He fought for freedom. Now he leads with heart.

Meet Karl, Canadian Armed Forces Veteran and proud Chartwell leader. His story is a powerful reminder that the spirit of service doesn't end when the uniform comes off.

"Remembrance Day is a time to pause and reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I valued my time in the military and am proud to have worn the uniform. The camaraderie we shared was unforgettable, much like what I experience here at Chartwell.

I still remember one of my first days marching into the drill hall and seeing a sign that read 'Learn to Serve.' That message has stayed with me ever since."

From the drill hall to the halls of Chartwell, Karl continues to live by that same mission - to serve others.

Voici Karl, vétéran des Forces armées canadiennes et directeur des opérations et des ventes chez Chartwell. Son parcours nous rappelle que l’esprit de service continue bien au-delà de la vie militaire.

« Le jour du Souvenir est un moment pour réfléchir à ceux qui ont donné leur vie pour notre pays. Mon passage dans l’armée a été marquant et je suis fier d’avoir porté l’uniforme. La camaraderie que nous partagions demeure inoubliable.

Je revois encore l’un de mes premiers jours, entrant dans la salle d’instruction et apercevant cette phrase : Apprendre à servir. Ces mots m’habitent encore. »

De l’entraînement militaire aux résidences Chartwell, Karl poursuit la même vocation : être au servir des autres.
