Smashing your phone isn’t “just anger.”

It’s control, intimidation, and escalation.

And your body knows that.

If you’ve experienced this, you’re not overreacting. I help women break trauma bonds and make sense of dynamics like this.

A lot of women don’t realize it was coercion.

Because no one forced you, but it still didn’t feel like a real choice.

You felt pressure, obligation, and that it was easier to say yes than deal with what came after no.

That’s what we’re unpacking this Thursday with Nat La June - we'll talk about how coercion can exist inside long-term relationships and why your body learned to comply as a way to stay safe.

Nat La June is a writer, poet, and educator whose work centers on marital and sexual coercion in long-term relationships.

They all sound the same. And the gifts always come at the same time.

Right after they’ve hurt you... Right when you’re about to pull away.

“Shut up” gifts are real and they’re meant to keep you stuck.

It didn’t always feel like a choice, but you told yourself it was.

Sexual coercion can be subtle. Pressure. Persistence. Guilt. Silence.

Over time, it becomes something you don’t even realize you’re tolerating.

This Thursday, we’re putting language to what you’ve experienced so you can finally feel clear, validated, and less alone.

In this intimate conversation, I’m joined by Nat La June to unpack how sexual coercion operates inside long-term relationships and marriages, and why so many women struggle to name it as abuse.

An antagonistic man will Nitpick, criticize, and argue with you. They are covertly or overtly combative.

You don’t have to stay in this for one second longer.

What you’ve been tolerating isn’t your forever. You’re allowed to choose differently. You’re allowed to leave and you’re allowed to heal.

The moment you decide it’s enough… is the moment things start to change.

Comment what he says or does when you cry. Abusive men think that women cry to manipulate them. But the truth is women cry in bathrooms and pantries and cars and closets to avoid him seeing her cry... If it was manipulation it would work.

"Go cry and play the victim. You're good at it".

"Here come the waterworks" *eyeroll

"You can't manipulate me with those fake tears".

Sexual coercion isn’t always obvious.

It’s not always force. Sometimes it’s pressure, guilt, persistence… or the quiet fear of what happens if you say no.

And for so many women, it’s been normalized for so long.

This Thursday, Nat La June and I are unpacking how sexual coercion shows up in long-term relationships and marriages - and why your body may have learned to comply before your mind could fully understand what was happening.

We’ll talk about:
🔹 What was said vs. what was implied
🔹 The patterns you were conditioned to tolerate
🔹 Why confusion, shame, and self-doubt keep you stuck

This is about clarity. Validation. And finally putting language to experiences that were never your fault.

Silencing victims protects abusers.

Telling someone to stop crying, to stay quiet, to “move on” only reinforces the harm they’ve already endured.

Sharing your story is resistance, it’s truth, it’s healing. There is no wrong way to take your power back.

Comment GUIDANCE if you’re choosing to break the cycle.

A man like this has no interest in changing or doing better for you. This behavior serves him. He's benefiting from this - that's why he's doing it.

Take the Trauma Bond Recovery Course to learn the exact steps to leave and rebuild.

Comment the word RISE and I'll DM you how to stop playing these roles in 12 weeks inside Rise and Rebuild Group Coaching Program.

When you shed these roles, they need to be replaced with something. You need a new identity.

The real shift in healing happens when you gently turn inward and start understanding the impact it had on you.

How you adapted... What you tolerated... What you had to silence just to stay.

Healing isn’t about analyzing the abuser forever.

It’s about reconnecting with yourself - and that’s where your power comes back.

Comment GUIDANCE if you want your clarity back in a way that actually feels grounded and not overwhelming.
