Encouraging Your Toddler to Speak – Tips from Bright Speech! 🌟
Is your toddler taking a little longer to start talking? That’s okay! Every child develops at their own pace, but there are simple ways you can help encourage language growth at home:
✨ Get Down to Their Level – Sit on the floor with your child and make eye contact when talking or playing. This helps them feel connected and encourages communication.
✨ Talk About Everything – Describe what you’re doing throughout the day: “I’m cutting an apple,” “Let’s put on your shoes.” Narrating daily activities helps build vocabulary.
✨ Use Simple, Repetitive Language – Keep phrases short and repeat them often: “Ball go up! Ball go down!” Repetition helps toddlers understand and learn new words.
✨ Pause and Wait – After asking a question or making a comment, give your child time to respond — even if it’s just with a sound or gesture.
✨ Follow Their Lead – If your child shows interest in a toy or object, talk about it: “Yes, that’s a red car! Vroom!” This encourages them to engage and try new words.
