Can acne be cured?
The experts say no, but it can 100% be managed and you can achieve thriving skin, even which acne. These 4 habits helped myself (I have hormonal acne skin behaviours) and others, find freedom from constant breakouts.
1. Have an intentional and consistent skincare routine.
With acne-prone skin, daily and nightly routines are crucial in maintaining skin health. A great routine for acne-prone skin should consist of; clarifying cleansers, gentle exfoliants, balancing essences or toners, active serums that target bacteria and hydrate, nourishing antioxidant and non-comedogenic moisturizers and SPF’s
2. Daily Hydration (Internal & External)
Healthy skin needs to be hydrated internally and externally in order to heal beautifully and maintain its protective barrier. Internal hydration looks like eating/drinking a lot water-rich fruits and vegetables on a daily basis, while external hydration is generally achieved with proper skincare products.
3. Eating a balanced diet to minimize triggers
What we eat can directly impact the condition of our skin, especially if we are acne-prone. Knowing your food-related acne triggers and avoiding them while eating a balanced diet will give your skin the gifts of; proper nutrient absorption, minimized inflammation, hormone regulation, and an overall improvement of your gut to skin interactions.
4. Monthly Facials for skin barrier maintenance:
Monthly facials are imperative to deeply decongest, purify, and nourish our skin with highly-concentrated ingredients to significantly reduce the chance of further severe breakouts. In some cases treatments are needed to help rebuild the skin barrier to remove scars or discolouration left behind from past breakouts.
Give these habits a fair shot for the remainder of the year and let me know if you see the difference by January 2024.
