⏰Reminder: Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday!

As we “fall back,” it’s a great time to check and change the batteries in your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) if you have one at home or in the workplace.

Taking a few minutes now to keep these devices ready and reliable can make all the difference in an emergency. Let’s keep safety a priority! 🔋🔥

Employee spotlight: Occupational Therapy Month 🧡

For more than 12 years, Trish has been helping patients across Fredericton through her role with the Extra-Mural Program (EMP). With 26 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, she says she has truly found her calling in a career that combines creativity, compassion, and problem-solving. ✨

Her path to occupational therapy began in high school, when she first met professionals in the field. 🎓 Initially drawn to physiotherapy as an athlete, it was a mentor who recognized her creativity and encouraged her to explore OT. The advice stuck and she has never looked back.

Whether helping someone recover from an injury or adapt to aging in place, Trish and her colleagues work to find solutions that fit each person’s lifestyle. She sums it up with one phrase: “We put the fun in function.” From ensuring patients can manage self-care routines to finding creative ways to keep up with hobbies, the goal is always to promote independence and quality of life.💪

Her advice to those considering the profession is simple: occupational therapy is both rewarding and versatile, with opportunities in areas ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, mental health to ergonomics.

This October, as we celebrate Occupational Therapy Month, we want to recognize the dedication and impact of occupational therapists across our organization.
🙌 Thank you for all that you do! 💐

Great conversations and friendly faces filled the Charlotte County Senior Fair on September 25! 💙

Our ANB and EMP teams had a wonderful day chatting with everyone who stopped by the booths. With an incredible turnout of around 300 attendees, it was great to connect with so many people, share information about our programs and services, and answer questions from the community.

A big thank you to the organizers and everyone who came out to make the day such a success!

🔔 Know the Name, Know the Number

Make sure your child knows your real name (not just “Mom” or “Dad”) and at least one phone number they can give to a trusted adult in case of emergency.

✅ One simple thing that makes a big difference.

Employee Spotlight: Respiratory Therapy Week 💙

For more than five years, Heidi has been bringing care and compassion to patients across southern New Brunswick through her work with the Extra-Mural Program. From launching the TELUS home monitoring program to supporting patients in the Kennebecasis Valley, she continues to make an impact every day.

Heidi’s journey into respiratory therapy wasn’t a straight path. With a Bachelor of Science degree and an early interest in environmental studies, it wasn’t until she explored the health care field that she found her true calling.

“An educator told me something that really stuck with me,” she recalls. “He said that as a Respiratory Therapist, you often get to be with people at the start of their life and at the end of their life. I found that incredibly meaningful, and it became a huge deciding factor in choosing this career.”

This Respiratory Therapy Week, we’re celebrating Heidi and all Respiratory Therapists across the Extra-Mural Program for their expertise, compassion, and dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families every day. 💙
