Self-Care but....make it realistic 🫰🏻✨

What people think self-care looks like:

Sunrise meditation.
Calm mind.
Perfect energy.

What self-care sometimes actually looks like:

A bathrobe.
A little raggedy like me 😅.
A sauna.
Five quiet minutes before someone asks you for a snack.

Left side: self-care according to Instagram.
Right side: self-care according to real life.

And as a counsellor, I can confirm both work but something important to point out: your nervous system doesn’t care if it’s aesthetic. It just needs a break long enough to reset.

Self-care doesn’t have to look perfect.
It just has to provide relief 😮‍💨

Friday facts 💫🌱

I’ve realized a few things lately…

1. I apparently wear this sweater in half my social media posts 😝

2. No one talks enough about:

A lot of adults right now are in the sandwich generation where we are supporting aging parents while raising kids who still need you daily. We know we are blessed to have this but it's hard on the heart at times.

Some days you’re managing appointments.
Some days you’re packing lunches and answering school emails.
Some days you’re trying to hold space for everyone else while quietly figuring out your own life.

Parenting is hard.
Caring for parents is hard.
And sometimes… just living is hard.

If this is you, you’re not failing rather you’re carrying a lot.

✨Friday FACT ✨

Many strong, capable people are walking through life feeling stretched in every direction.

A few reminders going into the weekend:

• Doing your best is enough.
• You don’t have to solve everything today.
• It’s okay to ask for help.
• Small moments of rest matter.
• You deserve support too.

You don’t always need more coping skills.
Sometimes you need regulation. This is what safety can look like. 🐾 🐶

✨A calm presence.
✨Steady breathing.
✨No pressure to explain.

When we feel safe, the nervous system softens. That’s where healing begins.

At EARN Counselling & Coaching, we focus on regulation first because growth doesn’t happen in survival mode.

✨Sometimes support has four paws.
✨Sometimes it’s a safe space to land.

The body remembers what the mind tries to ignore 💫🥹

Often, the problem someone comes to therapy for isn’t the real problem rather it’s where things finally started to feel too heavy. The doorway not the root.

As therapists, we notice patterns like:

• avoiding eye contact when talking about a partner.

• laughing while describing something painful.

• minimizing needs but feeling like “too much”.

• shutting down around certain memories.

These aren’t flaws. They’re protection. The hopeful part is ✨what was learned can be relearned✨

With safety and support, people begin to feel calmer, more confident, and more like themselves again. Healing isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping your nervous system realize you’re safe now.

You don’t have to carry it alone 🌱✨

Introducing EARN: Counselling and Coaching 🤍

This work comes from both my professional training and my real-life experiences, as a coach, a counsellor, and someone who understands how heavy life can feel sometimes.

EARN was created to help people regulate, rebuild confidence, and move forward with clarity whether you’re navigating stress, burnout, sport, parenting, or life transitions.

This video shares a bit about who I am, the heart behind EARN, and how I hope to support others. If it resonates, feel free to share 🌱✨🏔️

Sunday Reminder ✨🌱💫

I’ve been loved.
I’ve been disliked.
I’ve been talked about both fairly and unfairly.

And somewhere along the way, I learned this:

My work isn’t managing other people’s opinions.

My work is staying grounded in who I am and showing up for the people who matter most.

Part of that work is internally, which includes interrupting intrusive thoughts,
stopping the mental spirals, and gently redirecting my attention to the people who align with me.

That takes time.
That takes intention.
That takes practice.

Peace doesn’t come from being understood by everyone. It comes from feeling safe and congruent within yourself.

The goal isn’t to be liked by all.
The goal is to be regulated, aligned, and connected to what truly matters.

Friday Facts 🧠✨

Right now, many adults and high-achieving youth are living with high functioning burnout.

- They’re working.
- Studying.
- Training.
- Showing up.
- Smiling.

And still exhausted inside.

Even as parents, we’re often pushing them and ourselves to keep going, keep achieving, keep performing. Do more. Do better.

Stigma, and the belief we should be able to do it alone, keeps the cycle going… and the burnout growing.

You can be capable and struggling at the same time.

Functioning ≠ thriving.

Asking for support isn’t weakness.
It’s how strong people stay strong 🪴✨

✨What therapy clients don’t always see ✨

You are not just a 60 minute hour in our schedule.

We think about you between sessions.

We notice patterns.

We look for resources that might help.

We feel proud of your progress.

We care when things are heavy.

We celebrate your wins even the quiet ones you don’t say out loud.

Therapy is a relationship built on trust, effort, and courage and your willingness to show up matters more than you know.

If you’re doing the work right now, keep going. It’s worth it. 🤍
