🌱 Self-acceptance: The key to real change.
Carl Rogers, one of the great thinkers in humanistic psychology, reminds us that acceptance is not an end, but a starting point.
When we accept who we truly are, without judgment or expectation, we free ourselves to transform.

🧠 Change doesn’t come from the outside. It begins from within, with full acceptance of our strengths and weaknesses.

Voici quelques signaux qu’on banalise trop souvent:

Big brain news! Scientists have uncovered a surprising superpower in a little-known brain protein called cypin and it might just help us rethink how we treat memory loss, brain injury, and diseases like Alzheimer’s.

That’s exactly what researchers at Rutgers University have discovered about a little-known protein called cypin and the findings could pave the way for new treatments for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and traumatic brain injuries.

Led by Dr. Bonnie Firestein, a neuroscience professor who’s been studying cypin for over 20 years, the team uncovered a powerful role this protein plays in keeping our brain cells connected and communicating effectively.

Here’s what’s exciting about the discovery:

🔎 Cypin helps tag proteins at the synapse, the tiny gap where neurons exchange information. Think of these tags as labels making sure each protein shows up where it’s needed, supporting clearer, faster brain signals.

🧩 Cypin also teams up with the proteasome, the cell’s cleanup crew, to slow down protein breakdown. That means more essential proteins stick around to support learning, memory, and healthy brain function.

📈 And here’s where it gets even more interesting: Higher levels of cypin lead to more key proteins at the synapse, and it even boosts another important player, UBE4A, which helps with this tagging process. Altogether, this creates a stronger foundation for neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and grow.

Dr. Firestein puts it best:
"𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘺𝘱𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘫𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴."

🔬 This is a great example of basic research that’s now entering the translational phase, where lab discoveries move toward real-life medical breakthroughs.

🧠💡Why does this matter?
Because diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s often begin with synaptic dysfunction, a breakdown in how neurons talk to each other. Cypin could be part of the solution, by helping restore or protect those neural pathways.

👏 Huge credit to the team at Rutgers and collaborators at Michigan State University, and to the Coalition for Brain Injury Research and other supporters making this kind of long-term science possible.

Sometimes, the smallest proteins unlock the biggest breakthroughs.

Summer & Your Mental Health: A Gentle Reminder 🌿

As the days get longer and the sun shines brighter, summer offers us a natural invitation to slow down, reconnect, and recharge, even if work doesn’t take a break.

Here’s your nudge to make space for your mental health this season:
🌳 Engage with Nature: Step outside, even for a few minutes. A walk in the park, lunch under a tree, or simply soaking up the sun can boost your mood and regulate stress levels.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Reconnect with Loved Ones: Whether it's a weekend BBQ, a spontaneous phone call, or a quiet coffee with a friend, connection is fuel for emotional well-being.

🕶 Take a Real Break: Even if you're not on vacation, find small moments to unplug. A tech-free hour, a book on the balcony, or a short day trip can offer surprising restoration.

💧 Stay Nourished: Hydration, fresh seasonal foods, movement, and rest they're basic, but essential to staying grounded.

🌞 Let the Sun In: Sunlight helps boost serotonin, improve sleep, and enhance overall mood. Just don’t forget your SPF!

✨ And if you’re still in full work mode, you still deserve moments of joy, rest, and self-care. Mental health isn’t seasonal, but summer is a wonderful time to listen to what your body and mind need.

👉 What’s one small thing you do in summer to stay in balance? Share below, your tip might help someone else!

Mental Health Check-In: Because Burnout Isn’t a Badge of Honour!
We check the weather.

We check our emails.

We even check our steps (10k or bust!).

But when was the last time you checked in with… yourself?

Not just “How are you?”

But:
✨ “What am I carrying right now?”
✨ “Is my body calm or clenched like a stress ball?”
✨ “Have I had a full breath today?”
✨ “Do I need rest, movement, connection… or just a snack?” 🙂

Here’s the truth no calendar invite will tell you:
Your mind needs maintenance. Not just on meltdown days, but on regular ones too.

A check-in doesn’t have to mean deep therapy (though we’re fans).

It can look like:
-A walk with no destination
-Saying no and not over-explaining
-A playlist that matches your mood (or shifts it)
Silence
-Writing one messy, honest sentence in a journal
-Putting your phone in another room (yes, it will survive)

Most of us are moving through life on autopilot until something breaks, sleep, patience, the ability to answer “What’s for dinner?”

You don’t have to wait until then.
Your mental health is not a crisis to be managed, it’s a relationship to be nurtured.

So…
What would a small reset look like for you today?

Tell us: What’s one thing you do to check in or reset?
(We’re collecting ideas, weird, wonderful, and everything in between.)

Let’s be honest.

Most of us, no matter where we come from or what we do, carry stories, stress, and invisible weight.

- Some of us are far from home, building a life in a new culture.
- Some of us are balancing caregiving, careers, and self-doubt.
- Some of us look like we have it all together, but we’re exhausted inside.
- Some of us feel stuck between languages, identities, expectations.
- Some of us simply don’t feel “seen” in the spaces we turn to for help.

At Mindsession, we sit with all of it. The beautiful, the messy, the complex.
Mental health isn’t one-size-fits-all, and culture deeply shapes how we experience pain, resilience, and healing.

This is why we do what we do.

To create space where people can show up as they are, no translation required.

And if you’re a professional in this space, therapist, doctor, coach, educator we see you too.

We know how much you hold. We’re always open to connect and learn alongside you.

No pitch. Just an invitation: If this speaks to you, follow along, reach out, share with someone who might need it.

Moving across countries often comes with excitement, opportunity… and invisible emotional costs.

We don't think of the possible culture shock that accompanies such a transition.

The grief of leaving, the fear of not belonging, the disorientation of identity, this is more than “just culture shock.”

At Mindsession, we see culture shock as:
🌀 A form of emotional transition
🧠 A stressor that activates both neurological and psychological responses
💬 A deeply personal journey often misunderstood or minimized

Therapy can help people:
-Process identity shifts and loss of cultural anchors
-Manage emotional overwhelm in unfamiliar environments
-Rebuild a sense of self across languages and contexts
-Navigate guilt, shame, and expectations tied to migration

This is especially relevant for:
📍 Migrants and expatriates
🎓 International students
🧳 Third Culture Kids
🏥 Clinicians working in multicultural settings

We believe emotional transitions deserve the same care as physical ones.
* Have you ever experienced culture shock in a way that surprised you?
* How do you support clients navigating cross-cultural transitions?

Let’s open the conversation.

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧, 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚: 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐈!

With AI increasingly woven into our daily lives, it’s no surprise that some are beginning to see it as a companion, even in areas as personal as mental health support. But as this digital relationship grows, it’s worth taking a closer look!

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀.

-It’s about what’s not said.
-It’s about tone, hesitation, cultural context, body language, and the subtle, deeply human signals that don’t show up in a dataset.

🧠 AI can process what you say.
❤️ But it can’t truly feel what you feel.

It can simulate empathy, but it doesn’t experience it.

It doesn’t know what it’s like to sit with grief.

It doesn’t understand the heaviness of burnout, or the awkward laugh we use to deflect pain.

It doesn’t sense when silence means “I’m not ready yet.”

Yes, AI can assist. It can support.

But let’s not mistake synthetic understanding for human connection.

And what happens when someone in crisis puts their trust in a machine that isn’t capable of care, accountability, or instinct?

🔒 Your trauma? It’s now an algorithm’s data point, collected, stored, and possibly analyzed for reasons you may not fully understand.

𝐀𝐈 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬. (Let this sink in)

𝘜𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴, 𝘈𝘐 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦. 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘷𝘶𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘬 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘴, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.

So let’s innovate, but let’s also be realistic and responsible about where AI ends and humanity begins.

Would you use AI as a tool for mental health support or therapy?

A- Yes - as a first step or for light support
B- Only with human oversight
C- No – therapy needs a human being
D- Not sure – still figuring this out
