hello I’m rio, a somatic naturotherapist & bioenergetic educator

my path into healing arts began in 2007 via shadow work, delving into taoism, transcendentalism & tolle. in 2009 learning reiki became a catalyst for deep healing. from then on I immersed myself in holistic modalities, studying under diverse teachers to continue my healing journey

in university, I studied religion & philosophy with focus on mysticism & eastern tradition. I began distilling herbs, studying natural medicine & nutrition to heal my digestive issues. in 2011 I began hosting full moon events. for the next decade I worked in music & marketing, dedicating weekends to trainings & travelling to retreats to deepen my practice

in 2018 I began teaching reiki & soon after traveled to peru to become a restorative yoga teacher. it was in cusco I experienced a profound somatic release of decades-old trauma stored in my body. from that moment on, somatic work became my main focus, fascination & pursuit

in 2020 living on lake atitlan I started a podcast interviewing alternative wellness practitioners. here I decided to commit to my holistic practice fulltime, launching my online academy

now with 16 years experience, I help people release blockages & stuck emotion, connect with their subconscious & find alignment on physical, mental, emotional levels. my practice bridges ancient wisdom with modern science to guide you to reconnect with your mind-body

a dance of inner voices, protectors and exiles; expressing, exploring, embodying

our bodies naturally store memories, emotional events and traumas in our myofascial tissue, muscles and even organs, encoding these experiences on a physical level

these stored e-motions manifest as sensation and tension, and imprint on the nervous system

overtime we develop ‘holding patterns’ or ‘bracing patterns’ as a result — habitual responses that affect impact posture, range of motion, belief systems, and overall feelings of wellness, safety and embodiment

somatic therapy aims to identify, release and integrate stored tensions, emotions and traumas from the unconscious wisdom of the living body

in session, I blend a range of somatic mind-body techniques with bioenergetic therapy, including therapy, and - modalities that support deep somatic release on both soft tissue and energetic levels, as well as promote re-alignment
