We are approximately 33% into 2023… how are your New Years Resolution’s / Goals going?

Did you set any intentions for yourself 4 months ago?

It’s not easy to stay on track… I’m here to remind you - it’s not 𝘪𝘧 you fall off your path… 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯. And then it’s all about how 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 you get back on that right path 🙌

Take a moment to review where you want to be with regards to your main goals, my favourite categories to focus on are:

• Sleep
• Hydration
• Nutrition
• Movement
• Gratitude
• Fresh air / sunlight (this is a new one for me to focus on extra… and this is the perfect time of year to get outside more often ☀️)

90/90 - 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘫𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘫𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵.

Here ☝️ I’m moving from external hip rotation (while focusing on the front hip) to internal hip rotation (focusing on the back hip) to moving through full range of both hips.

I love this series - it will definitely be included in both my LIVE online class this Friday and Saturday at Muv in Hudson.

𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (ALL mobility) should be done not only when you’re trying to rehab an injury - it should be done as 𝘗𝘙𝘌-𝘩𝘢𝘣.

I love this exercise(Halo!) Not joint mobility specifically but it’s definitely a good one to get the shoulders moving!

Add the Halo into your regular shoulder workouts and your shoulders will be happy you did 💪

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺 / 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘯 𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴?

My top 5 movement goals over the next few months:

1. Fresh air daily + 3-4 outdoor walks a week
2. Pilates reformer 2 x week
3. Non Pilates (Strength!) 2-3 x week
4. Daily mobility
5. Listen to my body - recovery workouts as needed

I know the above sounds like a lot to some people - for me movement is medicine. I don’t put pressure on how long my workouts last… my goal is to start the workout and take it from there.

Failing to plan = planning to fail

I want to share a story with you, a story about how my client ‘Cindy’ became more confident than ever before with time efficient workouts.

Cindy started training online with me in 2020 - she had concerns about Osteoporosis and wanted to see if getting stronger would make a difference. She had been training infrequently, mostly recovery style workouts (ie: zero weights!). Cindy was always active but had never put a strong focus on bettering how she was feeling in her body. Before working with me she was waking up every morning feeling stiff. Feeling pain after doing sports such as tennis.

𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, and I love teaching a variety of different classes. Movement isn’t a one size fits all – but there is one thing that stays consistent in all of my classes for all bodies - Mobility!

I developed my favorite class 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 + 𝙈𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 almost 3 years ago during a time when movement at home was all any of us had! It was created out of a necessity to bring 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 movement to my clients 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦.

This class combines both joint mobility and strengthening. Two things that go hand in hand to keep your body 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵.

𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙤𝙛 𝙥𝙝𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮.

If you follow my stories you’ve seen this phrase from me - often.

I believe whole heartedly in 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 + 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

I also believe in doing what you can, when you can — 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺. Hence me drilling the benefit of taking a walk each and every day into all of you.

What I don’t mention often enough is that it needs to be done 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 and at a challenging speed! A leisure walk is great for your mental well being — but a brisk walk that increases your heart rate - has a whole host of other benefits physically.

Here’s where I want you to move more.

Walking is amazing. It’s a great way to get your body moving - and it’s an incredible form of recovery.

But…. as a stand alone form of activity it really doesn’t check near enough boxes.

If you were to add in a few 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 + 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 training sessions in addition to your walks… now we’re talking bigger more well rounded benefits.

𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩 + 𝘔𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 + 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 = 𝗠𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 🙌

I am so lucky to work with so many amazing people - I rarely share their wins and to be honest I should do more of that. I love that a win for everyone is so individual… so to shed some light on a non-aesthetic win here’s a short story about a new client 💪

One of my new clients - we will call ‘Monica’ was referred to me by a long term client of mine and good friend of Monica’s.

Both clients participate in the same sport and Monica was seeing some great things happening with her friends' sports performance.

Monica has been experiencing hip pain for several years - some nights the pain is so bad it wakes her up. My other client had similar issues, this is why Monica decided to start seeing me.

Last week Monica told me (after only 5 sessions!) that after our previous session she had the best sleep she’s had in months… months!

5 sessions. 5 sessions for us to find something that is working. 5 sessions and we have something that is going to be impactful on not just her sport life but her quality of life in general.

I can’t wait to see what the coming weeks and months will bring for Monica. Smart + consistent work is where it’s at.

I love my job.

𝘈𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦? Do you like to ski, golf, play tennis or some other fun activity?

Do you see yourself continuing this activity for 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦?

What are you doing to ensure you’ll be able to 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦 for years to come?

If you aren’t 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 training your joints to function at optimal range - you’re risking an injury every time you hit the hill, course, field or court.
