I remember when I first started taking charge of my health, it was a lot of fun to learn, but at times… overwhelming.

There’s so much useful information out there, but where do we start?

After trying so many habits that didn’t stick, I realized that the smallest consistent habits (that actually fit into daily life) were the ones that made the biggest impact.

💧 Water first thing in the morning helps rehydrate you after 7–8 hours without fluids. Your brain, digestion, and energy levels all depend on it.

💻 Turning off screens at night supports your natural melatonin production (the hormone that tells your body it’s time to rest).

🏃‍♀️‍➡️ Stretching throughout the day keeps blood flowing, reduces stiffness, and gently signals to your nervous system that you’re not in “rush mode.”

🍎 Chewing your food slowly supports digestion before food even reaches your stomach. Digestion truly begins in your mouth.

🌞 And stepping outside (even for 5 minutes) exposes your eyes to natural light, which helps regulate your circadian rhythm, improves mood, and can lower stress levels. Fresh air/natural light are simple but powerful nervous system regulators.

Sustainable health isn’t built through intensity, it’s grown through consistency 🤍

Rest isn’t time wasted…
It’s when your brain actually does the work!

Creativity:
Rest activates the brain’s default mode network, where ideas connect, integrate, and expand.

Memory:
During rest, your brain consolidates what you’ve learned, turning short-term input into long-term memory.

Emotional resilience:
Rest calms the nervous system, lowering stress hormones so you can respond instead of react.

So let’s be clear, rest isn’t optional, it’s foundational 🤍

Here I am recovering from gastro, looking around at the mess and thinking, ugh… the house.

But being sick has made something clear… I don’t think it should take feeling this unwell for me to offer myself grace.

There’s no reason to burn out because the dishes aren’t done or the laundry waits another day.

Motherhood expands you in places you once felt comfortable.

It humbles & strengthens you.

What was once entirely yours is now shared, and the illusion of control slowly dissolves.

I kept up with the illusion of control for a while.
But this season has reminded me to let go and fully surrender.

Because being “well” doesn’t mean control returns,
it just means I have more energy.

Energy I can choose to give freely or intentionally.

And that choice is enough 🤍

Ps. If you need 15 minutes to yourself, giving ribbon to your toddlers has proven useful in the household.

Magnesium is often called the calming mineral for a reason. It supports muscle relaxation and helps regulate the nervous system.

An Epsom salt foot soak before bed gives your body magnesium sulfate (and while absorption through the skin is still debated) many people notice they feel calmer afterward!

That’s the combination of warmth, magnesium, and simply slowing down.

It’s really very simple… get yourself something just large enough to soak your feet and add:

• Warm water
• ½ cup Epsom salt
• Soak 15–20 minutes
• Rinse, dry, and moisturize

You could also go for a full bath and add 1 cup Epsom salt, but a foot bath feels more attainable to do it on a regular basis.

Nothing complicated, just a gentle way to support your body to rest 🤍
