Great news, Nanaimo, because you now have access to more primary health care services!!
The Nexus Primary Care Clinic is the first primary care clinic led by nurse practitioners on Vancouver Island. Nurse practitioner-led primary care clinics are part of B.C.โ€™s primary care strategy and are developed by nurse practitioners. Currently, two nurse practitioners are on site but by September 15th, the clinic will have four more nurse practitioners, two registered nurses, a social worker and mental-health clinicians.

The COVID-19 pediatric vaccine is safe and effective for children aged 5-11. There is a very strict process to test and approve vaccines in Canada. Health Canada only approves a vaccine if the data from clinical trials show the vaccine is safe and effective and that the benefits of the vaccine outweigh any risks.

After completing testing that included more than 3000 children aged 5-11, no safety issues were detected and the vaccine provided strong protection against COVID-19.

Registration is now open to vaccinate and protect your children against COVID-19: https://www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca

COVID-19 pediatric vaccines for children 5-11 have now been approved by Health Canada. They will be available as soon as deliveries arrive. Parents or legal guardians, please ensure your children are registered in the provincial Get Vaccinated system.

Register now at www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca or call 1-833-838-2323. Once you have registered, you will be notified by email, text message or phone call when itโ€™s time to book the childโ€™s vaccine appointment.

COVID-19, influenza and the common cold share similar symptoms. However, some symptoms can be more severe or less common than others. In comparison to influenza and the common cold, COVID-19 can also take longer for people to show symptoms and you can be contagious for longer.

If you are experiencing common cold, influenza or COVID-19 like symptoms โ€“ and you may have been exposed to someone who is COVID-19 positive, please use the self-assessment tool at http://ow.ly/r2WJ50GBzoR to see if testing is recommended for you.

The program uses a combination of Mindfulness along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

No referrals are required โ€“ just a 20 minute intake meeting with a facilitator to determine group fit. Registration is limited.
