When we think of grief we typically think of it as something we experience when someone passes way. While this is a devastating grief experience, it’s not the only grief we experience. Significant life changes may also trigger the grief response. This may manifest in different ways, but the emotional process follows a general pattern. Knowing where you are in this process can help you regulate your nervous system and serve as a reminder that, while the process can be emotionally tolling, what you are experiencing is natural and it will pass.

If you have recently lost a loved one, ended a relationship, had a close friend move away, changed careers, moved or received a life changing diagnosis take a moment to reflect on where in this process you are.
