What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a therapeutic practice based on the principle that specific points on the feet, hands, and ears reflect corresponding organs, glands, and systems within the body. By applying intentional pressure to these reflex points, practitioners help to support the body's natural ability to restore balance, release tension, and promote healing from within.
Far more than a foot massage, Reflexology is a subtle and deeply intelligent system of communication. The feet, in particular, are seen as a mirror of the whole body, holding stories in their texture, temperature, and tone. With skilled hands, a practitioner can feel where energy is flowing freely, and where it’s calling for attention.
Reflexology is often used to relieve stress, support digestion, balance hormones, ease pain, improve circulation, and guide the nervous system into a state of rest and repair. It offers a non-invasive way to work with the entire body, through the sacred and sensitive map beneath our feet.
What does a session feel like?
As a patient, Reflexology can be both relaxing and surprisingly revealing. You’ll be lying down, as your feet are gently held and methodically worked. Some areas may feel tender, others soothing, each sensation a conversation between your body and your practitioner’s hands. As tension releases, many people report feeling warmth, emotional shifts, inner images, or waves of deep rest. It’s not uncommon to fall asleep or to feel like time has slowed and as your body moves into the state of rest and repair, often your belly will grumble. When this happens, let it grumble! It's like music to the practitioner's ears. A session often leaves you with a sense of clarity, groundedness, and connection to your body, and to yourself.
