Building Our Hospice, Building Hope

A heartfelt thank you to J.J. McGuire General Contractors, Carpenters Union Local 397, and Duncan Ceiling and Wall Systems for their incredible generosity and support in building our hospice residence.

We were pleased to welcome Jeff Robinson, Josh Neville, and Darren Kok to the hospice to celebrate their generous $135,000 donation and see firsthand the beautiful space they helped create. They treated the project as if it were their own home, with pride, care, and attention to every detail, and helped us stay on budget every step of the way.

A special thank you to Kyle Newbold, Project Manager and Joe Maiuri, Site Superintendent for J.J. McGuire, who worked closely with Denise Kearsey, Marigold Hospice Care’s Project Manager. What started out as colleagues grew into a friendship as they brought our vision to life — a true example of teamwork, dedication, and heart.

We are so thankful for this amazing team, your generosity and commitment have helped create a warm, comforting space where compassion and care will flourish for years to come.

Before we open our doors to residents, a sacred Indigenous smudging ceremony was held at Marigold Hospice Care. The traditional ceremony, guided by Grandmother Kim Wheatley, used the smoke of sacred medicines to bring positive energy and cleanse the space — offering blessings of peace, healing, and new beginnings.

Today we join people around the world in recognizing World Hospice and Palliative Care Day — a time to honor the importance of compassionate care for all who need it.

The 2025 theme, “Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care,” builds on last year’s campaign marking 10 years since the World Health Assembly called on all countries to strengthen palliative care as part of comprehensive health care. This year’s goal is to fulfill that promise.

At Marigold Hospice Care, we are proud to be part of this global movement, supporting individuals and families with comfort, dignity, and compassion when it matters most.
