Sweet Izzie is a 23-year-old Draft cross who was diagnosed with heaves several years ago. She also has Cushing’s disease, which makes the use of steroids an even greater risk to her overall health.
Fortunately, Izzie’s owner reached out to see if salt therapy would be a good option for her. After her first three sessions, we began noticing improvement in her flared nostrils and heave line. When I saw her this past weekend, she looked significantly better than she had the previous month when I first met her.
I’m so happy to see the progress she’s made, especially knowing that salt therapy is a safe and supportive option for horses of all breeds and many health conditions.
Salt therapy works by supporting the respiratory system from the inside out — helping to draw moisture into the airways and assist with the natural clearing of mucus and debris. It’s not about masking symptoms; it’s about supporting the lungs before strain progresses into something more severe.
Izzie’s owner chose to be proactive by starting her sessions during the winter, ahead of her most challenging months — spring through fall.
If you’re noticing subtle changes in your horse’s breathing, now is the time to address them — especially before spring allergies fully kick in.
My March, April, and May schedule fills quickly once allergy season begins. If you’d like to stay ahead of it, send me a message and let’s make sure your horse gets the support they need for a stress-free spring. 🌸🫁
