Psychotherapy works best when it’s grounded in evidence, thoughtful training, and clinical accountability.

Asking about a therapist’s approach, supervision, and experience isn’t challenging care, it’s part of choosing it wisely.
You deserve psychotherapy that is structured, intentional, and focused on meaningful progress, not guesswork.

As a clinical psychologist trained at the world-class University of Toronto and with experience working in hospitals and community agencies across Ontario, I wanted to bring this expertise home to Northern Ontario.
Bay Psychology was created to provide our community with the highest standard of psychological care, so individuals and families don’t have to travel south to access comprehensive assessments and evidence-based treatment.
We love North Bay and are proud to have built a team of providers with extensive clinical experience in hospitals and community settings, now offering that same level of care locally in private practice.

Starting work with a psychologist for the first time takes courage. Showing up, trusting the process, and allowing yourself to be seen isn’t easy but it’s meaningful and can be life changing. You don’t need to have the right words or know where to begin. Just showing up is a big first step!

Effective therapy isn’t about guessing, it’s about understanding. Accurate diagnosis allows for evidence-based interventions that actually work. When mental health needs are misunderstood or misdiagnosed, clients often experience poorer outcomes. This is especially true when someone presents with anxiety but is actually experiencing post-traumatic stress.

Without an accurate diagnosis, therapy can feel like trying to hit a moving target in the dark-the core concern isn’t being treated.

Comprehensive psychological assessment changes that. At Bay Psychology, Dr. Sachi Nagasawa and Dr. Sarah Setchell are registered clinical psychologists qualified to diagnose mental health conditions and guide evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, and adults.

A soft reminder for today:
You don’t have to control every moment to feel okay.
You can meet your life with compassion, breath by breath.

If you’re moving through something heavy, let this be an anchor... A wish for steadiness, softness, and enoughness in the moments that feel uncertain.
