A blessed and prosperous 2026 to you! May the new year bring growth and Barakah (spiritual sustenance) to all.
Things I learnt in 2025:
-When a loved one passes on, it's the sting of their absence that lessens with time while the admiration and gratitude for who they were, that only gets stronger. Wise Souls leave a blueprint behind on how to live.
-A good spouse makes most things better and all things worth it - life, emigration, loss and long walks.
-Reliance and trust in the Divine is everything in life.
-Once a year, learn or do something that is completely outside of your comfort zone. It's the ego that is scared to fail, not the Soul.
-You truly appreciate your parents; the purity of their devotion, sacrifice and prayers when you become a parent yourself.
-It’s important to converse with people who think totally differently than you do and there can be mutual respect even in the midst of contrasting opinions.
-Each year that passes is a gift. Don't let the age-defying brigade condition you into thinking it’s a deficit - you can only dream of the discernment and honesty you have with yourself in your forties when you’re 20.
-Changing ‘I have to’ to ‘I get to’ shifts perception.
-I (still) don't like being in the kitchen unless it's to make coffee. If I cook for you, I probably like you.
-Don't paint anyone as a complete anything. People are a combination of their conditioning, perceptions and lived experiences. Meet a person in a moment.
-Whilst it's great to meet new people, the conversations with true connections and family are built over years and are worth nurturing, irrespective of physical distance.
What have been some of your learnings from this past year?
