Breathing...it's automatic, but how often is it intentional?

With so many techniques out there - box breath, 4-7-8, A52-it's easy to get caught up in doing it "right". But breath isn't about perfection, it's about awareness.

Breath holds can support relaxation by increasing CO2 tolerance and activating the parasympathetic nervous system...but only when they feel safe in the body.

If a count creates tension, anxiety, or urgency-pause.

Let the body lead. Let your breath be intuitive, not forced.

When the mind creates fear...come back to the breath, take the inhale. It is there for you.

Just a reminder that if you have mental or physical conditions that are contraindicated to breath holds, make sure you get clearance from your health care provider.

Your breath is always with you, let it provide you with calm, peace and contentment.

Leaving the cave takes courage. 🕯️
In this episode of The Inner Practice, I sit down with Stacie Daponte to explore what it means to question inherited beliefs, move beyond dogma, and live with curiosity, compassion, and coexistence.
Raised Roman Catholic and surrounded by diversity, Stacie shares how a pivotal post-9/11 moment sparked a lifelong journey into philosophy, humanism, and consciousness. Yoga entered her life early—not as fitness, but as meditation, chanting, prayer, and presence. Over time, it became an embodied practice connecting breath, movement, humility, and self-study.
We talk about:
✨ Growing up Roman Catholic
✨ Yoga as practice—not religion
✨ Questioning doctrine without losing love
✨ The golden rule and unconditional coexistence
✨ How embodiment creates wisdom that books alone cannot
This conversation is for anyone feeling called to slow down, ask better questions, and show up more fully—for themselves, others, and the planet.

The Walls We Build, The Truth We Find
"I thought the shadows were everything—until the light showed me I was just looking at a wall."

In our latest teaser, the incredible Stacie DaPonte joins us to bridge the gap between ancient philosophy and personal faith. We’re diving into Plato’s Parable of the Cave, exploring that jarring moment when you realize the reality you were raised in might only be one small piece of a much larger sun.

🕯️ In This Week’s Conversation:
The Catholic Lens: Stacie reflects on her Roman Catholic upbringing and how the "shadows on the cave wall" shaped her early spiritual world.

The 9/11 Catalyst: We discuss the profound impact of the post-9/11 world—a moment that sparked a deep questioning of religious dogma and the boundaries it creates.

The Shift to Coexistence: Moving beyond "us vs. them" to find a spiritual path rooted in shared humanity and collective healing.

How has your own "cave" changed over time? Let us know in the comments below. 👇

They say you can't calm the ocean's waves, but you can learn to surf.

Off the mat, "surfing" looks like taking a deep breath before responding to a stressful email. It looks like finding your footing when plans change unexpectedly. Balance isn't the absence of movement, it is the grace we find within it.

How are you "surfing" throughout the week? Let's breathe through the wobbles together.

04/03/2026

We spend so much of our lives "upstairs", caught in yesterday's "what ifs" and tomorrow's "how tos". But your mind is a time traveler; only your body can ever be truly present.

Your breath is the bridge.

Your inhale is a tether, pulling your awareness back down into your bones. You are focusing not on the past or future, but on your here and now.

It is in that here and now where growth begins, leaving the future to take care of itself.

In that stillness, that pause between the inhale and exhale, the noise of the world fades and the frequency of your soul becomes audible. There you realize that peace isn't something you find, it is something you return to with each inhale and exhale.

🙏

I’m really honoured to be part of the committee for the Compass Run for Food this year.

This event makes such an impact.

Food insecurity is growing here in Dufferin County.

Families, kids, neighbours are relying on support in ways we don’t always see, but it’s there.

Being involved behind the scenes has given me a deeper appreciation for how much care, effort, and intention goes into making this event what it is.

Every detail matters because every dollar raised goes directly to supporting local food banks and school nutrition programs.

We are currently looking for sponsors, prize donors, and cash donations to help make this year’s event even more impactful.

If you own a business and feel called to give back, I would be happy to connect and share ways you can be involved.

I’m so grateful to be part of it 🤍

I am honoured to be hosting another Poses for a Purpose class on Saturday, March 28 at GoYoga from 4:30-5:30.

This initiative is really close to my heart.

Food insecurity is real, and it’s affecting people right here in our community.

Families, children, neighbours. It’s not always visible, but it’s there.

This class is a small way to come together and care for one another.

And when you leave, it’s not just about how your body feels.
It’s the knowing that you were part of something bigger, and that feeling stays with you.

This is a pay-what-you-can, beginner-friendly class, and every dollar supports local food banks and schools at risk through the Compass Run for Food.

I would love to have you there. Please pre-register to secure a spot:
