We represent over 7,000 RMTs in Ontario, and we ask that all parties in the upcoming federal election support HST exemption for Registered Massage Therapists. Massage therapists are an important part of a patient’s health care team, working closely with other health care professionals to meet the needs of patients in Canada. HST exemption will ensure that RMTs are respected and equal within those teams, which can improve patient outcomes. Heather Huston RMT

Education Heather has maintained an active registration with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario since obtaining her Massage Therapy Diploma and completing her registration examinations in 2006. She is also a member of the Registered Massage Therapists Association of Ontario. Since becoming an RMT, Heather has continued to pursue ongoing education by taking additional courses in soft tissue release, modern cupping therapy, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy and postpartum massage therapy.

Career Heather has been working at Oshawa South Chiropractic Clinic alongside Dr. Larry Down D.C. and Dr. Geoff Smith D.C. since 2007 and prides herself in providing a high quality of care for her clients. She applies her knowledge of orthopedic assessment and swedish massage with advanced therapeutic techniques including Trigger Point Therapy, Frictions, Myo-Fascial Release, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), Soft Tissue Release (STR), and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. In 2013, Heather became certified to provide Acupuncture and Modern Cupping techniques within her massage therapy treatments. Techniques are applied to facilitate an improvement in the function, tone, and mobility of the soft tissues of the body and to decrease overall pain. Recently Heather completed her certification in Post Partum Massage Therapy. This course has sparked Heather’s interest in Womens health issues including pelvic floor dysfunctions and how massage therapy can prove beneficial as an adjunct to assessment and care from a specialized pelvic health physiotherapist.

Experience Heather has over a decade of clinical practice experience treating clients of all ages. Heather believes in empowering her clients with recommendations for strengthening, stretching and hydrotherapy, as well as by educating them on muscular imbalances and increasing their postural awareness. Heather has assessed and treated a broad spectrum of painful conditions including, headaches, migraines, plantar fasciitis, muscle strains, sprains, tendonitis, arthritis, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), piriformis syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, vertigo and sinusitis to name a few.
