Our interfaith warm clothing drive wraps up this weekend. On Friday morning, the Knights of Columbus, Canon John Burke Council #6217 donated three boxes of coats to help those without homes keep warm. The Knights were joined by Rev. Lorrie Lowes of Bells Corners United Church and Brother Anwar Ul Haq of Jami Omar Mosque in celebrating this wonderful community initiative, which also includes Christ Church Bells Corners and Our Lady of Peace School.

Thank you Our Lady of Peace parents for the generous donations for the West Ottawa Interfaith Bridge's warm clothing drive! Our parish's interfaith rep, Ralph Mahar, and our parish's rep on the OLP Parents Council, Michael Hammond, packed up the donations, which will be taken directly to shelters for those in need during these cold days. Please keep up the donations. We're making a huge difference Jami Omar, Christ Church Bells Corners, Bells Corners United Church!

The winter cold can be deadly to the most needy in our city. Our church, along with our fellow faith communities in are collecting warm clothing like hats, mitts, toques etc. until Feb. 4 to lend a hand to those in need. With shelters at capacity, the need is great, but so is our community's spirit. Please consider bringing in some items this weekend. On Episode 9 of the Happiness Project podcast, I ask: Why are people who die of cancer brave but people who succumb to su***de aren't mentioned? We need to talk about mental illness like a real thing. These people are . Podcast available on all platforms.

Why is it we say people who die of cancer were brave in their fight but people who die of su***de are barely mentioned? Because we don't see mental illness for what it is, a terrible disease that is both physical and mental. People who suffer aren't weak, they're sick.

This is what it's all about! Hans Schopf, Grand Knight of the KofC Council at St. Martin de Porres Church delivers a cheque to FAMSAC Food Cupboard's Jeremy LeBlanc. Between St. Martin's, Christ Church Bells Corners, Bells Corners United Church, Hogtown Brass, the Knights and Hammond Suzuki Studio, we raised more than $1500 for families in need. Those funds are now being put to good use. Merry Christmas everyone and thank you Bells Corners!
