Research from scientists at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research found that melittin, a compound in bee venom, can kill certain types of breast cancer cells in a laboratory setting within an hour. The compound also showed potential to enhance the effectiveness of existing cancer treatments. However, these results are early-stage and experimental, meaning bee venom is not a medical treatment for cancer. More studies are required before any clinical use is possible.
