This major social injustice of the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is going to have profound impacts of women’s physical and psychological well-being. Marginalized communities will be the most impact by this. The psychological impact has already been experienced the moment this decision was made.

Lives will be lost.

I am angry and immensely disgusted.

I am heartbroken and sad.

I am in complete disbelief.

As a Canadian I am so grateful to still have the right to abortion AND being so close to the US is frightening.

Check out Abortion Right Coalition of Canada to find resources and ways you can take action now so that Canadians never have to face this injustice. See link 👇🏼in comments

To all the women and families affected by this decision, I am holding you in my heart and prayers 🙏🏼 💗

Have you ever felt guilty for struggling with your mental health when you can name a ton of things are you “should be grateful for”?

This has come up for me personally when I have struggled and I hear it time and time again from my clients.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

What points out that is SO important to understand is that a regulated nervous system is the key to being able to connect positive experiences and joyful things in life - like gratitude.

If you are having a hard time connecting to the feeling of gratitude when you are struggling, it DOES NOT mean you don’t appreciate those things. What is DOES mean is that your nervous system needs a reset & a break …

….So give yourself one!

Happiness comes in waves 🌊
It will find you again 🌞

Reactions are symptoms of what is unhealed from the past.

Through therapy we can work on shifting reactions into responses

We are all human, and even if you have done years of healing work, you are bound to react at times. That is normal.

Once you are conscious of your reaction you can choose how you wish to respond in ways that aligned with your values and true desires.

I’ve struggled and I still struggle…

I am a therapist and contrary to what you might believe, I don’t have all my sh*t together.

I have been working through my traumas and struggles with the support of therapists over the years and there is still more work for me to do.

The support that I offer doesn’t just come from my education and my training, it also comes from my own journey of healing. The interventions and strategies that I have learned and continue to learn from my therapists are so valuable within the space that I hold for others.

I often get feedback from clients about my calming presence, which has led them to believe that I don’t get stressed, overwhelmed or experience struggles with my mental health.

That is far from the truth.

I am a therapist and I am human. All humans struggle, so that means I do too.

Throughout the years, I have learned what works well for me to support my mental health. The unhealthy ways of coping are no longer in the drivers seat. And as new issues & challenges emerge in my life (which at times stirs up unprocessed stuff from my past) I continue to learn new ways of coping and continue on the path of healing.

I am so grateful for the therapists that have supported me and continue to support me in my journey of healing and navigating the challenges that come with this human experience.

If your curious about some of the strategies that I use to keep me grounded and nourish my mental health, click the link in comments to get a copy of my free eBook 🤗

Internalized capitalism makes you believe that rest makes you lazy OR that you are not productive if you take time for self-care.

Well, I want to let you in on a secret 🤫….this is an ILLUSION.

Rest is not just about taking a break. It actually supports our brain to be able to function optimally. When operate from a "don't stop, won't stop" or hustling way of being we are depleting our energy and physical resources, which makes it much harder for us to connect to the part of the brain that is responsible for executive functioning ( such as adaptable thinking, planning, working memory, time management, and organization).
What happens when we don't give ourselves time for quality rest is we spending more time doing while actually being less productive.

Give yourself permission to rest so you can actually be your best!

This weekend is a perfect time for you to start. Tell me how you will rest this weekend... I wanna know 🙂

With care,

Morgan

I don’t have time for mindfulness....

Does this statement sound familiar?

I get it, because I’m not going to lie, that thought has shown up for me!

Our lives can be hectic and thinking about practicing mindfulness on really busy days can feel daunting. Thinking about stopping to be mindful when our mind is FULL can feel impossible.

On days like those, when taking 10-20 minutes to do a mindfulness practice doesn’t feel doable, I have the solution for you!

Try bringing mindfulness into the things that you are already doing! When you shower, wash your face, wash the dishes, taking a sip of your coffee or tea...

In my e-book, Practice for Presence, I offer a practice that engages all 5 senses. Engaging with your senses is an accessible and efficient way of practicing mindfulness. You can engage with your senses to cultivate more present moment awareness with so many of the tasks or actions that we are engaging in throughout the day.

For example, when you go to take a sip of your coffee...

☕️ Notice the color of your coffee. Is it black, brown, or creme?
👃🏼 Notice the smell of the coffee before you take a sip.
🔥 Notice the temperature on your hands as you hold the coffee cup
🤤 Notice the taste of the coffee and savor it.
😛Notice the sensation of the coffee in your mouth as you take a sip.
👂🏼Notice the sound of sipping your coffee.

Creating these mindful moments throughout the day is so important for our mind to stay focused, calm, clear and to feel connected to the things we are doing.

If you want to learn more about mindfulness and explore some practices to help you cultivate more presence in your life, click the link in my bio to get your free copy of my e-book, Practices for Presence ⬆️

Let me know how this resource supports you. I would love to hear from you 🤗💗

With all that is going on in the world, it is normal to find yourselves paralyzed by the difficult emotions that come from seeing all the suffering in the world.

It is important not to ignore the suffering in the world, and we must also recognize the resilience that exists within us individually and collectively ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽 ✊🏾✊🏿

It is okay to feel anger, sadness, guilt etc… but dwelling in these emotions will not stop the suffering in the word. Allow these painful emotions to be processed so that you can transmute your energy into drive and motivation to make a difference in ways that you can!

Presence 😇

The final pillar in

“Presence is the ability to be grounded in present moment awareness. Attaining presence is a practice. The ability to stay present grows over time with dedication to mindfulness practices. Our external and internal experiences can influence our ability to stay present; therefore, the concepts of patience, acceptance and trust support the practice of presence” - Practices for Presence

Jon Kabat-Zinn, internationally renowned mindfulness teacher, teaches the pillars of mindfulness in his work. I have summarized these pillars in my e-book called Practices for Presence.

The Serenity Prayer 🙏🏼

A prayer that I turn to when life feels hard and heavy.

It reminds me to surrender to the guidance of my faith.

And to empower me to keep going, not matter what obstacle is thrown my way. No matter what is happening within me or around me.

If you are struggling today, I hope this prayer provides you with some relief.

With love,

Morgan 💗
