Over the last 10 years, I am thankful to have had the opportunity to help improve the food offerings for our senior living environments for the future. This was done in conjunction with our gerontology and long-term care consultants to bring about a culture change in Long Term Care. We have done this through breaking down traditional healthcare foodservice barriers and by designing the facilities and operational programs to meet the changes required. It provides for all levels of foodservice dietary offerings from traditional foods to dysphagia and texture modified foods, all the while serving it in a diverse, a la carte menu offering for every meal just like you would find in any restaurant. The was done while in full compliance with the Ministry of Long-Term Care food cost and labour models. Our seniors deserve that effort and respect when it comes to their daily meal offerings.
Planned Foodservice Solutions has several projects using our new model that are in various stages of completion. PFS has carried out the food service functional programing, design development through the construction documents to construction administration. This is done in collaboration with the architectural & engineering design team and the client.
In all cases, this new model was selected only after an intense cooking and tasting food demonstration for each client was carried out and found to be so superior to the current traditional offerings.
We currently have 18 projects under development across Ontario including Southern Ontario, Central Ontario and Eastern Ontario with several additional projects pending.
