Let’s go to the beach!

Youth ages 13 – 18, join us for a day of fishing and beach fun. BBQ lunch and snacks are provided, as well as all fishing gear. Just bring your sunscreen, hat, bathing suit and towel!

: We Need to Talk About Death: An Important Book About Grief, Celebrations, and Love by Sarah Chavez -- recommended by ADEC volunteer and FT Kailey Bradley

This book normalizes that death is a difficult topic to discuss. We Need to Talk About Death is written a historian and museum curator (Sarah Chavez), and provides an overview of various aspects of death, dying, and bereavement. Through beautiful illustrations, Chavez introduces topics like eco-friendly burials, catacombs, and various death-related celebrations and rituals such as Mexico's Day of the Dead. This book provides a wonderful sampling of how humans have always revered and memorialized those who have died. While We Need to Talk About Death is geared for young readers, I feel it will capture the imagination of a range of readers (including adults).
