We live in such a privileged society.

There will always be more…

Food
Love
Chances to get it right
Sunshine
Rainy days

So why do we feel like everything is finite?

That we have to take what we don’t need because it’s offered?

That we have to clear our plate when we aren’t actually hungry?

It’s time to change that mindset to *abundance* instead of *scarcity*.

Food will be there. Opportunities will be there.
Chances will be there.

Let’s figure out which ones we actually want to take. 💕

Sometimes my best is 40%.

As someone who thought anything other than functioning at 100% was failure,

this took some significant mind work.

And it was a reflection of the all or nothing mentality that I didn’t realize I had in more areas than just dieting.

Being kind to myself and congratulating myself for operating at 40% has been so freeing.

You aren’t bad for not being able to achieve your ridiculous to do list.

You don’t have to feel guilty for not getting it all done.

Congratulate yourself for the little things.

You don’t expect coworkers to do more when you are rude to them, so why would you expect it of yourself?

Why is it easy for us to be kind to others, but not ourselves? It’s ok to continue to learn and grow and change. It’s no...

Why is it easy for us to be kind to others, but not ourselves?

It’s ok to continue to learn and grow and change.

It’s not like we become and adult and we’re just supposed to know everything.

So next time you think you’ve done something wrong. Or you feel like you should have expressed yourself better. Or you should have made a different decision…

Be kind to yourself.

We’re all still learning.

For some meals, eating at the table just doesn’t come naturally.

And eating at the table doesn’t have to happen for every meal.

But when you are trying to alter your relationship with food to make eating a more pleasurable experience, it’s highly recommended.

It gets you one step closer to eating undistracted which allows you to start tuning into your body, what it likes, and what it feels like when you get full.

Do you find yourself eating on the go? Snacking in the car? Eating your toddler’s leftovers?

Try to sit down for a meal and let me know how it goes!

Repeat after me….

There are no bad foods.

There are no good foods.

Got it?

All food is energy. Some will give you long lasting energy and some will give you a short burst of energy.

But there is nothing moral about food.

Think about that next time you reach for something ‘good’ or ‘bad’.

You are reaching for energy.

Ask yourself if it’s the type of energy you want? And if you are actually hungry, or just feeling uncomfortable about something going on?

After you’ve had it, reflect on how you feel.

No judgment. No self criticism. If it wasn’t the right decision, there is always next time.

How many times do you grab that last bite to just clear your plate?

How many times do you walk away from the table and say ‘I wish I hadn’t had that last bite’?

It’s amazing what we do out of habit.

Next time you are having a meal, maybe try to just leave that last bite.

Or tell yourself you’ll be back for it in 5 minutes if you are hungry.

Save this post so you can come back and tell me how it went.

Week 1. Intuitive Eating.

Idk how this will go. I’ll try sitting down to eat. I might try to plate my food later but I’m definitely going to be on my phone while I eat.

Am I over eating?
Am I under eating?

I have no idea. But it’s ok, I’m not really doing this thing anyway.

Not going to tell anyone about this, just going to do it. And see how it goes.

Can I really just get rid of all the rules and actually enjoy food? I’m skeptical.

I’ve had this quote in my dinning room for at least 6 weeks.

Read it again.

It came from a space where I was sick of wavering between over eating and feeling deprived.

As someone who is recovering from an eating disorder and years of dieting, I never wanted to feel restricted again.

Enter intuitive eating. And realizing that my poor relationship with food has nothing to do with food.

And everything to do with not knowing how to feel my emotions and not feeling like it’s ok to feel my emotions.

Sound familiar? Stick around for tips on how to slowly change your mindset and finally have a positive relationship with food.

I didn’t realize how narrow my viewpoint on life was until I started changing my viewpoint on food.

What?!

It’s true.

As someone who has placed her struggles on food and weight most of my life, finally working through and breaking down the thoughts that I had about food, and rebuilding them, has allowed me to start being open to enjoying more aspects of life.

How did I start?

By getting rid of the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ labels of food. One little mindset shift. And often I have to remind myself that food isn’t moral, but the more I do, the easier it is.

Have you always thought of foods as ‘good’ or ‘bad’?

STOP doing things because you think it’s what you should be doing.

STOP doing things because you think it’s what other people expect of you.

START doing things that you enjoy.

And don’t worry, it’s normal to not even know what you really enjoy because it’s been so long since you made time and space for you.

Enjoy getting to know yourself again.

My biggest fear?

Making a mistake.

This has lead me to be

Paralyzed with indecision.
Over productive to a fault.
Under productive to a fault.
Obsessed with perfection.
In negative relationships too long.
Mean to myself.
Second guessing everything.

Along with a number of other things.

But I’m trying to lean into it. And instead of not wanting to make a mistake, I’m changing my mindset.

How can you make a mistake when there is no right answer?

Better yet, what if every decision is the right one?

Change is hard, but wanting to be the best role model I can be for my littles, makes it that much easier. 💜

What is your biggest fear?
