Everybody wants the end result, but nobody wants to do the work.

We see the end result in other people and think “it was easier for them”. We think that they didn’t have to put in hard work.

That lie is keeping you stuck. It’s allowing you to feel justified for not going after what you want.

“People are rewarded in public for what they do in private”.

The truth is, it was hard for them. It’s hard for everybody. It’s just that some people are willing to accept that it’s hard and do it anyway.

Perspective shift time ✹🙃

Your perspective is YOUR CHOICE.

You get to choose how you look at things.

You can choose to tell yourself all the reasons why you “can’t”.

Or you can choose to tell yourself all the reasons why you MUST.

Either way, the story you tell yourself WILL dictate your behaviour.

Your perspective will either be your prison or your passport. Do you agree?

In my teens & 20’s, I was always insecure about my body.

My thoughts revolved around food and what I looked like, and as a result I was always on the latest fad diet, always comparing myself to others (not a fun game to play btw), always obsessing over calories and fat, and always disgusted with myself for how fat I thought my (insert any body part here) looked.

This obsession with my weight grew into something that seemed to take over my entire life.

I thought about it when I woke up, when I was getting dressed (something that often involved tears), when I was going about my day, and it’s what kept me lying awake at night.

“What can I do to be skinny? I will do ANYTHING to be skinny!!!”

But I had no idea what the answer was. I thought I had tried everything. I thought that nothing worked. I thought that I had failed at every diet I had ever tried. I thought that the problem was me. And that I would never be happy.

But then, after losing my father to cancer at 26, my focus shifted from weight loss to health.

I was determined to learn as much as I could about nutrition & began making small healthy changes to my diet.

My health drastically improved (even though I wasn’t even aware it was an issue). My bloating & constipation went away, I got off my anti-depressants, I stopped getting UTI’s, my chronic skin rash disappeared & my weight finally became a non-issue.

My hope is that you learn from my lessons and use whole foods as a conduit to make your life better.

If you give it a chance transforming your health can transform your life.

If you are feeling like you need some advice, encouragement or guidance, leave your questions in the comments & I’ll reach out. đŸ€

Did you know 👇

Our sugar consumption has gone up 100x in the last 100 years (mostly due to ultra processed foods). And it’s not just sugar in the form of candy and cakes. It’s IN our food.

Added sugar (which didn’t exist 100 yrs ago) is in nearly all processed foods today. Pre-made sauces, frozen meals, salad dressings, ketchup, yogurt, nut butters, jams, soups, packaged fruit, specialty coffees, and the list goes on

Processed foods now make up 60-70% of the average person's diet.

Highly processed grains (which again, are new to humans in the past 100 yrs) are the PRIMARY ingredient in processed foods. And since the processing takes the fibre out of the grain, the grain turns into sugar and becomes very unhealthy in the body.

When you continually flood your body with too much sugar too quickly, your blood sugar goes up - this is referred to as a glucose spike. And to put it bluntly as says, “the more glucose spikes you have, the faster you die.”

Yes, processed foods ate delicious. Yes, I understand they’re convenient. But AT WHAT COST?

These foods are designed to hammer at your hunger signals and keep you in cycle of disempowerment.

They zap you of your energy, you become more depressed, more anxious, less capable of dealing with stress AND all of this makes you less motivated to make the changes you need to make.

And the worst part - we turn to these addictive foods bc they give us temporary relief from our pain - a dopamine hit.

It is all by design.

This is not living a full life.

BUT when you have energy, when you are strong, when you’re feeling positive, motivated and empowered, the sky's the limit for your life. And it all starts with food.đŸŽđŸŠđŸ‹đŸ„ŠđŸ„‘đŸłđŸ„©đŸ„—

So I’ll leave it to you - the increase in both disease & our consumption of processed foods over the last 50 yrs - correlated or coincidence? Lmk what you think 👇

What do you prioritize? Do you ever stop to think about that?

Do you consider the future cost of your current decisions?

Having a “you only live once” mindset and consistently prioritizing instant gratification will leave future you wishing you had lived that one life differently.

Yes - we’re all gonna die one day. BUT how do you want to LIVE?

The person you will be a year from now depends largely on what you’re prioritizing.

Who do you want to be? Prioritize accordingly đŸ€

Save this post so you always know what to do when you've had too much sugarđŸ«đŸ‘‡

1 - Stop shaming yourself! You’re allowed to enjoy some chocolate at Easter🐣
and if you had too much, I’ve got you covered 👇

2 - Stabilize blood sugar with whole food meals. Sugar throws your blood glucose levels out of whack, resulting in withdrawal symptoms like intense cravings and low energy. To help remedy this, make sure your next meal contains protein, veg + healthy fat.

3 - Load up on fibre + water. They will help to flush out your system and curb hunger. Giving you better control over cravings and over-eating.

4 - Include anti-inflammatory foods - One of the main reasons too much sugar makes you feel like crap is because it spikes your blood sugar, and therefore tends to create inflammation in your body. Load up on cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, turmeric, ginger, flax, h**p and omega 3 fatty foods like salmon, herring and sardines.

5 - It can be tempting to want to skip meals or severely restrict calories the day after a sugar binge...I get it, you feel like you have to balance out your overeating (been theređŸ™‹đŸ»â€â™€ïž). But on days after you’ve eaten too much sugar, you’re much better off eating lots of quality whole foods instead of skipping meals.

Was this helpful? Which tip do you find the easiest?

Diet is one (amazing) way to support your metabolic health but there are others things you can do that have nothing to do with food!👇👇👇

You can further support your cells by:

1ïžâƒŁ Getting adequate sleep

đŸ’€ Sleep is often regarded as the thing that we can sacrifice, when in reality it plays a huge impact on MANY aspects of our health.

Lack of sleep has been linked to memory issues, mood changes, weakened immunity, altered eating behaviour, increased aging and even dementia.

2ïžâƒŁ Minimizing stress.

😖 When you’re chronically stressed, insulin increases and your adrenal glands release hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones flood your system, raising your heart rate, increasing your blood pressure (making your blood more likely to clot), damage your brain’s memory center, increase belly fat storage, and generally wreak havoc on your body.

đŸ§˜â€â™€ïžManage your stress by “actively relaxing”. You can do it through meditation, breath work, massage, prayer, yoga, anything that helps reset your nervous system from an over active stressed state to a relaxed state (or parasympathetic state).

3ïžâƒŁ And moving your body regularly.

đŸƒâ€â™€ïž Strangely enough, when we stress our body through exercise, it helps us adapt and be more resilient to emotional and mental stress in the future.

Which of these will you incorporate first?
