March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Too many women suffer in silence and it's time to break the taboo that often prevents discussion of gynecological issues.

Today I spoke with Naqvi-Mohamed from CityNews Montreal a journalist, diversity & inclusion expert and a courageous women with endometriosis using her voice and personal story to help women and talk about their endometriosis.

Diverse City: March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Too many women suffer alone or in silence and it's time to break the taboo that often prevents discussion of gynecological issues. Fariha Naqvi-Mohamed reports.

A little scream from me today on International women's day!

Today is international women's day. The one day a year where we come together as people to honour women and their achievements, and raise awareness about gender equality.

Let's make every day women's day! Women are over 50% of the people on this planet, we can not heal with our our women being strong and included!

Every year, women's day has a special theme, this year the theme is meaning re-imagine a gender-equal world, which is free from all kinds of bias, stereotypes and discrimination.

For me right now, what this looks like is a daily push back from the image I was raised to fit into of the "good daughter/good wife/good girlfriend/good mother", which many of us try so hard to live up to. I see this image as the very essence of what leaves us feeling overwhelmed and stuck!

This image is tightly weaved together with the North American/Colonial ideal of the strong individual nuclear family doing it alone, always having to look being perfect, always on the go, never resting, running from the fear of judgment or disapproval from others, leaving us feeling not just exhausted and alone, but also ashamed to show our deep natural need for raising our children together within a larger community.

This deep wound is what I would like to highlight today, on this years women's day, and Beth Berry as always says it so perfectly:

"We need the support of the community we lack in order to create the community we crave."

I believe that the key to healing our world lies within respecting and caring for the feminine energy, which is within all of us no matter our gender! When we honour "The Mother" starting with caring for and respecting our own mothering ability, we will heal as a people and as a planet.

But we can not do this work alone...

Togetherness can make anything feel possible. Alone, we can forget who we are. In true community, we can be seen, celebrated, and called forth. We can dare to show, share, and explore more of ourselves. We can find the energy to make the changes needed in our own lives, and from that place, help heal society and the planet. We can be inspired and be the inspiration everyone needs to find their own courage.

It’s up to us as women & mothers to get ourselves out of this lonely and overwhelming mess we call modern parenting and family life.

Substantial and lasting change won’t happen until we come together, prioritize the healing of these deep wounds and believes we hold as women, and begin to trust ourselves and one another again.

In the darkness that envelops us this time of year, the energies are ripe now for linking our intentions with symbols and images that channel energy to bring them about. Symbolically, the Great Mother goes into labor on Solstice night, to bring forth the Child of Light, the new sun, the new era, the new day. We support her efforts with our chants, our songs, our dances, our ceremonies, and the real work we each do every day.

Solstice is an excellent time for personal work, for letting go of inner pain, regrets, mistakes, blocks. Fire and water can both be good tools for doing this. Here are some simple ideas to help you celebrate Solstice at home:

☀️Stir some salt into a bowl of water. Sit with it, and let any painful or fearful feelings arise, and as they do, breathe them into the water, stirring counterclockwise. When you feel the wave of emotion has passed, sit for a moment and allow yourself to believe that change is possible. Imagine it as a spark of light, that begins to grow as you stir clockwise. You can sing or chant or breathe to raise the energy.

When you feel the bowl is glowing, take a small sip and consciously take back the transformed energy. Look back at some of the situations that have been painful and imagine how you might do them differently, how you can transform them next time.

☀️ If you have a fireplace or woodstove or a way to make a fire outside, you can do a similar cleansing with fire: Sit by the unlit fire, draw or write your regrets on paper, then light the fire and let them burn up in the flames.

☀️ Solstice is also a time for connection. While it's not the same as gathering in person, I am hosting a live Solstice ritual today at 1pm Pacific Time that you are welcomed to join - tickets are by donation, and the link to join is here: https://bit.ly/winter-solstice-w-starhawk-and-evelie

Let this Solstice be a time when we all put our intention towards the change we want to see in the world. We are creative, magical, radiant beings, and when we link our hearts, our vision and our actions together, as the Wheel of the Year turns, we can turn the world around.

This is something we as a family have been practicing over the last few months with our daughter Lili and her dance with anxiety. Doctors, therapists, the school, the CLSC, friends and us her parents all have expectations, hopes and needs which we want her to fulfill, yet the a reality is most of all we need to meet her right where she is and gently guide her forward from there. ❤️

I love Starhawk!
Her words always awakens something deep in me
Something which I know I need as much as air
Yet I keep loosing somewhere in all my stress between work, parenting and household chores…

The mysteries are what is wild in us, what cannot be quantified or contained. But the mysteries are also what is common to us all: blood, breath, heartbeat, the sprouting of seed, the waxing and waning of the moon, the turning of the earth around the sun, birth, growth, death, and renewal.

To practice magic is to tap that power, to burrow down through the systems of control like roots that crack concrete to find the living soil below.

We are never apart from the power of the mysteries. Every breath we take encompasses the circle of birth, death, and rebirth. The forces that push the blood cells through our veins are the same forces that spun the universe out of the primal ball of fire.... We can invoke them, but we cannot control them, nor can we disconnect from them. They are our life, and when we die, decay, and decompose, we remain still within their cycle...

One more small step towards breaking the oldest taboo... Even if it is a marketing stunt. The fact that talking about period are good for sales is a sign that we are indeed moving forward. 🦋

"Pantone, the color registry company, has introduced a new shade — Period red — that it hopes will get people talking about a part of life that often goes unmentioned.

By focusing on menstruation, Pantone said, it wants to overturn a taboo and draw attention to a regular life phase with a color that is “energizing” and “dynamic.”

Period red “emboldens people who menstruate to feel proud of who they are,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. She added that the goal was “to urge everyone, regardless of gender, to feel comfortable to talk spontaneously and openly about this pure and natural bodily function.”

The announcement is partly a marketing stunt: Pantone has teamed up with the Swedish feminine products brand Intimina, and the brand’s Seen+Heard campaign, to help make periods just a regular part of everyday life." - NYTimes

The color registry, with the Swedish brand Intimina, takes aim at an old taboo and barrier to women’s equality.

**Still in need of Facilitators for Nature Pods**

We know that several of you have been waiting for the next nature pods. We are having soooo much trouble finding the right people to lead the groups. Besides many trained educators going back to school, our biggest issue is that this is part time work and those who have been a good fit... also have other jobs where they are in perhaps unsafe (high exposure to the public) environments!

We hope to have the next nature pods up and running as soon as possible and we are terribly sorry for the delay and inconvenience.

If you know of anybody who can do this kind of work, preferably somebody with childcare, childhood related education and are great at communicating and relating to children, and very importantly, live and work in low risk environments, please have them contact us.

Oh these lazy days in nature are so healing after 6 months of madness. My daughter is great at helping me remember what self love looks like and how to have fun again. ♥️🌈🌿

Dear ladies, how are you all doing? How have you each made it through these past 6 month? How has all the extra stress and worry affected your menstrual health?

I have felt quite a reaction in my own menstrual cycle, experiencing very unpredictable periods, very much like life right now!

I am very sorry that I have been so absent. I know we have not been able to gather in workshops, but that did not have to stop us from sharing here in the group. The truth is I have been to tired and overwhelmed to be very present.

As fall is emerging I have been remembering the workshop I offered last winters for "mother and daughter first period workshop weekend", it was so very special.

And then as if the universe was picking up on my thoughts two mothers, independently of each other, have reached out to ask me if there would possibly be a way to offer a workshop again soon for their daughters... I love when things like that happen. It gives me hope that there is a meaning with all the madness!

The Goddess is awakening, and I guess it means that it is time for em to reach out again into the world of amazing women xo

So here I am again, reaching out to check in with you all to see how you are doing!?!

I would love to hear from you...
Big hug!
