This sleepy baby has been here for a couple months now and we’re loving the snuggles 🥰

Im currently not offering any services as I’m just enjoying my maternity leave with my family. I will make a post when I am ready to start prenatal and postpartum work again, births will come after that 🤍🤍

🚨 New Package Option 🚨

Ever since Covid kicked me out of the hospital (I’m allowed back now!!) I’ve been using versions of this set up with my clients to figure out how to best support them knowing I wouldn’t be able to attend their birth, and knowing that so many prenatal learning options have been taken away.
Well I finally narrowed down my meetings to these three topics :
1. Birth plan/Comforts of care
2. Newborn care / Postpartum body & Mind
3. Labour Techniques
Each meeting can take anywhere from 60-90 minutes and would usually take place between weeks 30-37 of pregnancy.
I’ve found clients are much more confident leading up to their birth having talked lots about how it works and what that day will look like for them.
I have also found this to be a good option for those people that do hope to have their partner as a main support and after these meetings most partners feel more capable to do so!
Anyway I will update my website soon with this new package option but wanted to get it out there so people can book away!

GOOD NEWS ALERT 🚨

Firstly I haven’t posted in forever I’ve been crazy busy with work and family and just life things!

But the good news is…..
The days of Doulas not being allowed at in hospital births (due to covid) are coming to an end!! 🎉

For lots of places this has been the case for months but Grey and Bruce has been slower to make the change back. I don’t know an exact date yet but I know it’s very soon!

Yay!!!!

All birth is natural.
Women choose an epidural for pain management, this does not make their birth unnatural.
Women experience complications that lead to a medically necessary cesarean, this does not make their birth unnatural.
Women choose to have a repeat cesarean, this does not make their birth unnatural.
There are plenty of medical tools available during childbirth, for comfort or necessity. No way a child enters the world is unnatural.

Using the term “natural birth” while talking about an unmedicated or completely unmediated labour and birth invalidates the many women who chose a different birthing experience. It can also hit very close to home for women who were striving for an unmediated birth but ended up in an operating room for reasons out of their control.
Just a hump day reminder before talking to your family and friends about an “all natural birth”, try using “unmediated” instead! 🤍
