With thanks to my yogi friends I now always end my classes with a poem or short story that has a message that I can send to them for the day. It is such a great end to to each class. Today's story is below after an amazing Outdoor Tabata Core class.
This really resonated with me for many things in life but it especially made me think about the collaboration I am doing with so many women here at the Cove to create a community of people trying to get stronger and healthier. If I tried to do it all on my own then my 'corn' or in this case fitness community would not be growing as well as it has.
I have Cheryl who brings an amazing Yoga class to all of us on Monday nights after my strength class! Her gentle words, her reminder to us to honour our body and her closing Savasana bring peace to our mind and soul. She moved here at the same time as I did and I am truly grateful for her helping me and many others to embrace and love Yoga.
I have Leanne from Three Planes Pilates who comes in once a month (next one this Tuesday) to bring her gift of mat Pilates to us and teaches us to breathe in a way that strengthens our core, not just for a six pack but more importantly for our every day life. Her smile lights up the room and her method of teaching makes everyone feel welcome.
I have Tina from Lighthouse Loft who I have had the absolute pleasure of getting to know this summer and I look forward to attending her outdoor Yoga classes at her beautiful home every Wednesday and even some Saturdays when I'm able. Tina welcomed me with open arms to the Cove and our collaboration together with sharing clients and our passion for helping people to live their best life is something I truly cherish.
I also have Jen and Ania from Balanced Fitness in Belle River who despite being busy at their own gym, still give of their time to help me if I am going to be away and come and teach my strength classes for me in my absence. You can tell just by talking to them how much they love all things fitness.
We all want to grow good corn and we all understand that it takes a community of people with different skill-sets to help everyone in Lighthouse Cove and area get stronger in and out of the gym in mind, body and soul.
So have a look around you at your neighbours, friends, family or co-workers. How can you make their world better and in turn you will both benefit and grow 'good corn.'
Have a great long weekend!!
