Forward House provides adults in District 69, mid-Vancouver Island, who have mental health and addiction recovery concerns with support and resources for healthy autonomy and community inclusion. We have 12 staff members, volunteers, practicum students, a volunteer Board of Directors, and many community partners who help us serve our community members. We are currently introducing many new psychos
ocial rehabilitation programs and expanding others. We offer programs involving education sessions (nutrition, life skills, TED Talks, guest speakers), expressive therapies (music, arts, crafts and gentle stretch), and recreational activities (walking, playing games, watching movies and visiting community attractions), and in 2014 we purchased a used van to allow us to take more clients on fun and educational outings in Parksville and its surrounding communities. FHCS still offers a variety of vocational rehabilitation opportunities as well. Our support groups include Men's Group, Women's Group, LGBTQ Group. We also offer Families Forward (for caregivers, friends, and family of individuals with mental health challenges) and services targeted specifically to Young Adults (ages 19-29). Interested in donating? Forward House is a non-profit, registered charitable organization that is committed to providing a wide variety of programs for our clients. We receive base funding from Island Health, but we also rely heavily on grants and donations from our community members to enhance our services and programs. Donations can be made:
