We had the honour of interviewing Linda Woodard, one of our 2024 Walk for Alzheimer's fundraisers. For Linda's participation, she cycled 86 km from Parry Sound to Dunchurch, and raised over $2,017! All money raised will go towards our programs and services that support people living with dementia and their care partners, in Muskoka and Parry Sound.
Here's what Linda has to say about her fundraising experience:
"I was inspired to participate because my mother Audrey, has been diagnosed with early stage dementia and because I attend the support group of caregivers in Parry Sound. I hear a lot of heartbreaking stories when they share their experiences and I see firsthand, the emotional and physical toll this disease takes on the caregivers. These support groups and other programs wouldn't be possible without donations to the Alzheimer Society.
I chose to do a bike ride in Parry Sound with the approval from the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka. The 86 km ride was exhausting, however my goal was to finish. In retrospect, there is no finish line with someone living with Alzheimer's.
My favourite part was completing my mission and contributing $2,017 to the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka. Research tells us that this disease will increase as we age. Without public donations, the Alzheimer Society would be limited in research and their ability to offer the vast array of programs and support that they provide."
On behalf of the entire ASM team, thank you for your support, Linda!💙
