"I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Szczepanik for her extraordinary kindness, empathy, and unwavering commitment to patient care. I have been a patient of hers in the Emergency Department, and more recently, she was the attending physician for my son prior to his transfer to Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. During one of the most difficult moments our family has faced, Dr. Szczepanik met us with a level of compassion and presence that I will never forget. I recall a moment when she took the time to speak with me directly and honestly while my son was in the middle of an emergency—her calm explanations were clear, thoughtful, and without fluff. That straightforwardness, delivered with such care, brought a sense of calm and trust when everything else felt uncertain. What stood out most was not only her clinical expertise, but the dignity she preserved for my son throughout. She saw him as a person first, and ensured he was treated with respect and humanity at every step, regardless of his disability. To show a small token of our appreciation this National Doctors’ Day, we hosted a pizza party in the physician lounge filled with delicious pizza, treats, smile cookies, and even better conversation. 🍕🍪 It was a wonderful opportunity to pause, connect, and celebrate the amazing team we’re so proud to have.

Over the past three days, our team from Pembroke Regional Hospital had the opportunity to connect with so many talented individuals, share what makes our organization and community special, and continue building meaningful relationships to support our recruitment efforts.

A huge thank you to our fantastic emergency medicine physicians who joined us—your passion, insight, and genuine commitment made a lasting impact and truly brought our story to life. Collaboration like this is what strengthens our team and helps us grow.

The review and assessment were thorough leading them to be able to provide me with a clear diagnosis and management plan. Despite having a diagnosis of stroke, I am relieved to know what has been causing me to feel unwell and am happy to understand next steps.
