As people, we learn new things every day and grow from our experiences.

As a business owner, one of the hardest things to hear is no, but I’m also learning that it’s a blessing. I want to work with the right people. The people that want to work with me.

As a doula and birth photographer, I come into your family’s life during a very significant time and I am so grateful to be welcomed. I don’t take this lightly and I want to hold space for families who I resonate with and who I connect with.

Saying NO can be scary but saying no does not mean failure. As I’m learning in my course, it simply is the wrong people make room for the right people!

So excited to start this new journey 😆😆😆

I have had the opportunity to shoot a couple of births but until now never received any formal training in birth photography.

I am excited to learn more about my camera, shooting in low light and rooms with florescent lighting like hospitals.

Stay tuned to see what I’m learning 📸 from the amazing team

I’m ugly crying a bit today 😭😭

I dropped my youngest baby to school this morning for the very first time and he was so brave! My older 2 started yesterday so it was nice for him to no have to go for first day craziness.

I can’t believe how quickly time flies. This year I have a gr. 7, gr. 4 and a JK student. It feels like just yesterday they were all babies 👶🏽 👩‍🍼

PRE/POSTNATAL BARRE BLEND 👯‍♀️

I am so excited excited to be able to bring this amazing program to all my mamas-to-be and new mamas!

For those of you who know me personally, you know, I am probably the least graceful person ever 😂 I just am finishing up my final week of the regular Barre Blend program with and as much as I say it wasn’t for me, I literally got my but handed to me and am so happy with my results!

I have teamed up with some amazing coaches and together we are going to help you on your fitness journey. We want you to be able to be active while staying safe. This program not only teaches you proper workouts for your pregnant/postpartum body but also talks about nutrition and self care!

No matter what stage you are in (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th trimester) there is a program designed for you!

What I love most about this program is you can do it in the comfort of your own home, at your own pace!

We will also be bringing you lots of tips and helpful advice along the way on everything from nutrition to self care. Each week we will have a Ask the Doula session for you to pose all your pregnancy and postpartum questions!

I have been quiet on here as I regroup and figure out the direction I want to go in for this account. For those of you who saw my last post, I shared that I have moved most of my doula business over to

On of the things that I have been working on throughout my certification is self care. I have never really loved myself or felt entirely comfortable in my own skin but if I am going to help other families grow stronger, I need to be able to gain confidence in myself.

Back in March, we had just received news that had shut down schools and I was completely overwhelmed! I took this a a sign to slow down and regroup. I stumbled across a post from sharing a 14 day free challenge with and I was intrigued.

I signed up and haven’t looked back! I am now completing my 3rd program with with as my coach and am loving it! My outlook on life has completely changed and I am learning to nourish my body and love exercising again 🏋️‍♀️

So how does this tie in with my doula business??? Well, health and wellness is a big part of pregnancy and postpartum so I am grateful to be able to offer my clients the whole package. I am now a coach with and I really hope you will continue to follow along and join me on my journey to health and wellness 💗

We need to be there for each other!

We need to be there for each other!

"I’ll meet you where you are."

Today, we're reflecting on this beautiful phrase and powerful image from Emma of This Mama Doodles.

Because new motherhood is a shock.
It's relentless.
It's painful.
It stretches your heart and makes you question who you are.
And it's lonely - the kind of loneliness you didn't know existed until you're awake rocking a baby at 3am or going on yet another long pram walk.

Never underestimate the power of showing up for your new mum friends.

In these strange times, it may not be having wine on the couch while they cry from sheer, pure exhaustion - despite how we might ache for it.

It might simply be checking in regularly, holding them from afar, letting them know that you're there. It's telling them if they want to, need to, they can call and sob down the phone - and that you'll hold space for them while they do.

It's saying, "I'll meet you where you are."

Wherever that may be x

What are your thoughts on this? Have you experienced trauma or abuse of power in the birth space? Have you had a chance to process it?

The number of families contacting Birth Trauma Ontario recently to report being threatened by their OB or midwife with child welfare services for declining/delaying routines or procedures has skyrocketed in recent weeks.

It’s all through the academic literature that the “dead baby” threat is the most common abuse of power by maternity staff to gain compliance from a client. That’s where the practitioner lies to the parents to say that the baby is at risk of dying if they don’t acquiesce. It’s immature and unbecoming of a health care provider.

Parents are becoming more informed and are rejecting this old tactic. They expect to be engaged in an informed consent conversation where their autonomy is respected. Instead, they are being met with escalating threats of reporting them to child welfare services to investigate them for being “unfit” parents due to non-compliance and possibly having the baby apprehended at birth or having their other children taken. Why child services agrees to be used like an unthinking lap dog at the industry’s behest is beyond me.

Responsible professionals NEVER resort to threats in any capacity, especially in lieu of patient autonomy and consent. Hospitals should be investing in mandatory trauma-informed training, including ethics, communication, and the laws of consent.

Parents need to report every instance of this unethical behaviour. And they can consider dropping this business in favour of something that delivers safe and respectful services. A drop in business is the surest way to rapid change. It will also lessen the potential that you’ll be the 1 in 3 that has a traumatic experience or the 1 in 8 who ends up with postpartum PTSD.
