Why buy seeds every year when your garden already makes them? 🌾
Saving seeds from your healthiest plants is one of the easiest (and most rewarding!) steps toward self-sufficiency.
Here’s how to start this fall 👇
🌱 1. Choose your best plants.
Strong, productive plants = strong, productive seeds.
🌸 2. Save the right kinds.
Stick with open-pollinated or heirloom varieties — skip hybrids (look for “F1” on the label).
🍅 3. Let fruiting crops overripen.
For tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants, let a few fruits stay on the plant until very ripe before collecting seeds.
🫘 4. Plant some "Easy Wins".
Beans, Peas, and Flower seeds don't take much effort - just let them dry up on the plant and collect.
🌼 5. Dry & store well.
Allow seeds (or pods) to dry completely before storing in a labeled envelope in a cool, dark place.
⭐ Bonus Tip: Use winter downtime to organize your saved seeds and plan next year’s garden layout!
Each seed you save is a step toward sustainability, resilience, and community. 🌍
Whether you’re saving for next season or sharing with neighbors, every seed tells a story of growth.
