Fashionably late (as usual 😛)
Last month I graduated from with a First Class Degree with Honours in Media and Communications Studies 🎓 I was even awarded an extra certificate for “outstanding performance” 🥰🤓 I’m so glad I waited until my 30s to go to uni: spending several years working full time and developing as a human definitely helped me achieve the grades I did and take the stress of uni (mostly) in my stride. For anyone thinking “it’s too late”: no it isn’t!
I couldn’t have done it without the support of my loved ones though: and .dare.phox, your continual cheerleading, chats and words of encouragement and pride gave me the stamina to keep going, you were always there with ideas, check-ins and sugary parcels to get me through essays (not to mention you helped get me to Swansea!), and of course there’s . I feel in many ways you have earned this degree almost as much as me! You witnessed my ups and downs and anxieties surrounding every assignment, listened to me say “this is NOT my best work” and “I’m definitely failing THIS one” so many times it became a running joke, but assured me every time that I was being daft and was sure to do well (and you were right!) You’ve been my muse, with many of our in-depth “put the world to rights” conversations being the inspiration several essays, my stress reliever and my champion. You were even a direct “expert source” for one of my essays! You cooked for me, kept me sane and and never mentioned how smelly I got after a week of doing nothing but writing. For all these things, and more, you are truly amazing. Thank you ❤️
Finally I want to thank my amazing lecturers who have been more than a source of knowledge, support and advice, but of whom many I consider to be friends. Thank you for everything! 🙏
Now, off to work I go!
