Did you know muscles don’t age? What we do, and don’t do, with them affects how they respond. 💥
If we are sedentary, muscles will atrophy (shrink). As we age we can become physically frail, have decreased bone strength and reduced joint mobility, which often lead to poor posture, falls and fractures. Poor digestion, food absorption, heart rate and many other things slow down but muscles themselves never degrade unless there is disuse.

Muscle mass can decline by 12% to 30% and strength declines from 2%- 30% by 50-65 years old!
BUT this is associated with disuse! NOT old age!

Strength training as we age builds bone mass, improves posture and therefore digestion improves, improves brain function and mental health, increases functional movement as you move throughout your day, gives you a “spring in your step” and reduces your risk of cardiovascular disease.

So come out and join us! Building some muscle is one of the best preventative medicines there is! ⚡️✨❤️

All our trainers will guide you through and keep you safely challenged, no matter your age and stage, so that you can feel strength, more confidence and move more fluidily through your day to day:)

We love Darlana being on our team! She is fun, kind and a bundle of amazing energy:)
And of course, Gertie, her sweet little pup, and our SMC mascot;) 🐶

With over 15 years of experience as a fitness instructor, Darlana brings so much creativity, energy, enthusiasm, and fun into every class.

She is well known in this town for her powerhouse energy and her passion for creating a space where movement feels fun and challenging at the same time:)

She is so knowledgeable in many areas in the fitness world, TRX, kettle bells and more, and now is a certified indoor rowing instructor as well!
She is caring, supportive and puts so much work and thought into all her classes❤️

You can catch Darlana early in the morning at Rip N Row classes Tuesday 7:15am and some Wednesdays 6:30am, as well as subbing here and there for those who need her.

This 4 week course was so well received, we are going to start another beginning March 23rd 🙌❤️

Strength for Life is especially designed for those who have challenges with mobility, balance, getting up off the floor, keeping up with life’s challenges and who need a gentle start in their fitness journey.

Monday, Wednesday AND Friday 11:30am for 4 weeks Rachelle, Gerrimae and Laurie will be taking turns instructing the classes. Each class takes place on a chair or standing up with your chair beside you for balance.

-Monday is Chair Yoga with Laurie
- Wednesday is Chair Strength with Gerrimae
- Friday is Chair mobility and Fascia Release with Rachelle

Pelvic Health is for everyone!

Women, and men too, begin to struggle with Pelvic Floor strength through different stages of our lives and it shakes our confidence and limits our activities.

Leakage? Let’s talk about it and more importantly change it! Using fun and purposeful movement, breath, and functional alignment, we’ll address issues such as incontinence, prolapse, and painful intimacy while improving posture, balance and ease in everyday movement. Expect a supportive, practical class that builds real internal support of laughing, sneezing and trampoline jumping.

Don’t wait until you feel you need a bladder lift or until you lose hope that you will ever be able to run again.
This is the class we all need!

Introducing compassionate, fun loving, inspiring Laurie – Yoga and Movement instructor ✨💫

Laurie has had a lifelong passion for movement. In her 20s and 30s, she was a BCRPA Fitness to Music instructor, teaching step aerobics and cardio kickboxing, and later led circuit and weight training classes. Today, she teaches chair yoga and drumming on the exercise ball to upbeat music, bringing fun, rhythm, and mindful movement into her classes.

Five years ago, Laurie discovered yoga during a pivotal time in her life, and it quickly became a practice that grounded her and improved her health both mentally and physically. With nearly 300 hours of yoga training, including immersive Yin studies in Bali and several chair yoga certifications, what she once thought might be her “retirement gig” has turned into teaching two to three lunchtime classes each week while working as an employment counsellor.

She is passionate about helping others move mindfully, build strength, and create a more functional, joyful life through yoga and movement.

We love having Laurie onboard as a vital and motivated instructor. Her calm demeanour and kind heart is a pleasure to have around. She is always willing to learn, grow, and is so beautifully passionate about teaching and helping others. Thanks for all you bring to the table ❤️

You can catch Laurie at our Strength For Life sessions, teaching chair yoga and she is often subs the Evening Yoga Monday 5:15 and Wednesday’s 5:30 as well:)
Hopefully soon we will get her on the schedule to teach Ball Drumming classes once again! They are a blast:) So stay tuned for that:)

Introducing fun, creative, knowledgeable and compassionate Kristy 💫✨🙌

Kristy’s journey with practicing yoga has been a long and loving one.
Kristy lived in Vancouver for 20 years and was a successful entrepreneur, opening a pet food store, a restaurant and a tattoo studio.

She used her yoga practice both to manage the stresses of small business ownership and also personally to help her through her journey of self healing.
Kristy decided to shift her focus and dedicate herself to promoting a lifestyle of health and wellness by becoming a certified LYT method, rowing, chair, restorative Hatha and 26&2 yoga instructor. She founded the hot yoga studio in Duncan in 2021.

Kristy and her partner moved to Powell River in 2025.

Kristy’s fun and unique tunes, her passion for teaching and sharing her love of movement and the body are so valued and appreciated at Sol Motion Collective:)
She’s a brilliant instructor, and gets you working every muscle and moving in creative fluid ways🔥

Introducing our warm, innovative, brilliant and gorgeous human being, Rachelle “Rara” Gura ✨💫☀️

Rachelle “Rara” Gura was hypnotized into the typical life of corporate career and suburban exist in Toronto when she came to her senses in 2005 and saw the stability she created was at the sacrifice of her sanity.
After quitting middle management all her energy went into teaching movement, first highly choreographed fitness classes then a shift in spirit lead her to yoga which opened her curiosity about anatomy and how the body functions. Additional education in pelvic health, Pilates, Eldoa, neuroLymphatic motility and myofascial release grew her reputation for helping people move out of pain, leading to her appearance on Zoomer TV, the Sweet Equity and Yogapalooza stages. Becoming a part of the facility in two teacher training certifications.

The move to B.C. in 2021 was a beautiful chance to connect with another community full of talent and creativity! Today she combines all of her knowledge teaching specialized classes at Sol Motion Collective and co-creates a live music and movement experience called Yongos, with her true love Byron Fader.

Rara’s skills know no bounds, and she has been in the industry for long enough to understand what most people truly need, health and wellness in every fibre of our being, from fingertips to toes!

Rachelle teaches Barre Blitze Tuesdays 4:15am, Evening Yoga Wednesdays 5:30pm and a brilliant Pelvic Health Pilates class Thursdays 10:30am
