✨New Blog Post Out Today✨

I am back! It is Marnie!

It feels so darn good to be writing a blog again! I have been buried deep in course creation and video editing… working my buns off to help get our ‘Functional Healing Course’ launched into the world!

It has been a life changing journey… working on this project with Liesl and Debbi, and I would like to use our blog, over the upcoming weeks, to write about some of the lessons and surprising outcomes that I experienced over the past three years of creation.

Let’s start by answering the question - Who the Heck is Phyllis? - and then work our way to a functional technique that makes you feel much better after too much sitting!

Spring doesn’t rush… it unfolds 🌿

Even here in Alberta, where snow wants to lingers, there’s a quiet sense of renewal beneath the surface. Your body feels this too. If you’ve been feeling out of sync, low on energy, or disconnected… this is your gentle reminder that nothing is wrong.

Your body is simply asking to return to its natural rhythm… and your breath is your way back.

This week’s blog explores how reconnecting with your breath can help you feel more grounded, clear, and supported… plus we share 3 simple breath patterns to help you:
✨ awaken your energy
✨ release tension
✨ reconnect with your natural flow

Spring isn’t about pushing harder… it’s about softening into your own rhythm… one sweet breath at a time 🌼🤍

From Root to Rise🌱☀️🌳

Spring reminds us that real stability, strength and resilience starts beneath the surface

This week’s focus is all about building strength from the inside out by choosing simple movements that support your bones, fascia, and overall stability… simple movements like squats (that’s right….SQUATS 🥴)

This week blog comes complete with a PDF handout link straight from our Functional Healing course that will walk you through safe and (dare we say) EASY chair and kitchen sink squats!!

Through consistent strength and balance practices we grow our ability to stay agile, mobile and strong! 🧡💪🏽

Spring is here 🌱

… and with it comes that familiar urge to move, stretch, and shake off the heaviness of winter, but if your body feels stiff or slow, you’re not alone.

Just a few minutes of mindful movement each day can boost energy, improve mobility, and support your nervous system in feeling safe enough to release. Your body isn’t something to fix… it’s something to reconnect with 🧡

💪🏼💜 The Hidden Cost of Being the “Strong One” 💜💪🏼

Being the “strong one” often means everyone turns to you.

If you’re always the strong one… you may also be the one who rarely gets to exhale.

Many people who experience anxiety aren’t weak… they’ve simply been strong for too long without enough space to receive care themselves.

This week’s blog explores the hidden emotional and nervous system cost of always holding everything together, and how breathwork, meditation, and self-compassion help restore balance.
✨ Strength includes softness.
✨ Strength includes rest.
✨ Strength includes you.

🤩✨ Why High Achievers Struggle to Relax ✨🤩

You handle pressure well.
You meet deadlines.
You show up for everyone.

So why is relaxing sometimes the hardest thing to do?

Many high achievers aren’t bad at resting… their nervous systems have simply learned that productivity equals safety. When slowing down feels unfamiliar, the body can stay alert even when the work is finished.

In this month’s blog, Why High Achievers Struggle to Relax, we explore how anxiety, achievement, and nervous system regulation are deeply connected… and the part that self-love plays in accepting…
✨ Calm is not something you earn.
✨ Rest is not a reward.
✨ Regulation is a practice.

🪴🤌🏼 From Overwhelm to Calm 🤌🏼🪴

Have you ever noticed how one day you feel grounded and capable — and the next, everything feels like too much?

Nothing major changed.
But your capacity did.

Overwhelm isn’t a personal failure. It’s often your nervous system responding to accumulated stress — poor sleep, constant stimulation, emotional demands, shallow breathing. Your body keeps track long before your mind does.

The good news? Calm isn’t something you have to chase. When you learn how to regulate your nervous system... especially through intentional breathing... your body remembers how to return.

• In our newest blog, From Overwhelm to Calm, we explore:
• Why your capacity changes from day to day
• How stress builds quietly
• The role your breath plays in shifting your state
• Practical ways to come back to regulation

You’re not inconsistent. You’re human. And calm is closer than you think.

💫💨Breathing for Anxiety 💨💫

What if anxiety isn’t only coming from your thoughts… but from the way you’re breathing?

Many people don’t realize that their breath constantly sends signals to the nervous system about whether they are safe or under stress. When breathing becomes fast, shallow, or irregular, the body can shift into survival mode… even when life looks calm on the outside.

In our newest blog, we explore the relationship between conscious breathing and anxiety… providing some simple yet effective focused breathing practices meant to encourage rest, relaxation and reset

✨New Blog Post Out Today!✨

Twenty years ago on February 17th, 2006, my brother did something statistics said was unlikely.

Against all odds, he climbed to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro... and proved that heart will always outclimb probability.

This is a story about The Determination Factor.

And why “unlikely” doesn’t mean impossible.

❤️🤔 Ahhh, the week before the universally accepted LOVE day… aka Valentine’s Day!

Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day, feel indifferent about it, or prefer to ignore it altogether, this week invites us to turn inward and focus on the Heart Chakra… reminding us that true love always begins within.

The heart chakra asks us to give ourselves permission to take up space. It invites us to notice all the places of abundance in our lives with gratitude. It vibrates with a wisdom that teaches us that self-worth is not earned it is claimed.

☀️💫🤩 The light returns…

We did it!! We are at the midpoint between Winter Solstice (shortest day of the year) and Spring Equinox… and have you noticed the increased minutes of daylight each day??

With each day seeing the return of more light than the day before we may find ourselves wanting to un-stagnate (is that a word 🤔) in preparation for the ‘spring fever’ that we can feel is just around the corner!

This video will teach you a quick way to get your entire Lymphatic System unclogged and flowing in just over 2 minutes!! This midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox is a great time to be reminded that movement is the best remedy after hibernation… us gals here at The Breath Connection included 😉
