With warmer weather on the horizon, it’s time for my annual sunscreen post!
Handcrafted and natural are always appealing, especially if you care about what goes on your skin, like me! But sunscreen is one place where this can be genuinely dangerous.
In Canada, sunscreen is regulated as a drug. Products must have a DIN (Drug Identification Number), which means they have been properly tested for safety and for actual sun protection.
Without a DIN, there is no verified SPF or standardized testing, and no way to know if the product is protecting your skin at all.
UV exposure is not something to guess on.
At Lavender Suds, I focus on creating skincare that nourishes and feels good to use, but sunscreen is not something I will ever make or sell.
Please choose sunscreen with a DIN, be cautious of homemade SPF claims, and make sure you are using products that are proven to protect your skin.
Sun protection should always be something you can trust. 💜💜💜
