Body Soothers By Sharon

Body Soothers By Sharon 100% cotton double stitched long grain rice filled microwaveable or freezable hot/cold therapy packs It also numbs nerve endings, dulling pain.

Two of the simplest, least expensive and most effective methods of pain relief are heat and cold treatments. Heat treatments, such as my Body Soothers, work great for soothing stiff joints and tired muscles. Heat enhances circulation, delivering nutrients to joints and muscles. It’s good for getting your body limber and ready for exercise or activity. Cold is best for acute pain; it restricts bloo

d vessels, slowing circulation and reducing swelling. Body Soothers are handy to keep around the house and in your freezer - no trips to the drug store, no messy water and ice, no throwing away thawed bags of vegetables....

Reusable Body Soothers are soft and comforting, hot or cold.

Summer heat brings the potential for heat illnesses. Take precautions before you feel unwell.

Heat exhaustion symptoms include nausea, fatigue, pale skin, headache, muscle cramps and/or dizziness. If you (or a loved one) feels this way, get out of the heat, apply cooling measures and drink cool fluid.

Hot/Cold Therapy Packs are available at 1178 Albert Street. Put them in the freezer and use them if needed.

A week ago yesterday, I went for droopy eyelid day surgery. Before I went to the hospital, I tossed 5 'Happy Eyes' rice packs into the fridge freeze chest. After surgery home instructions read, "Apply ice pack or eye gel mask 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off for the first 3 hours. Then 5 to 10 minutes every waking hour for the next 2 days." The 3 x 9 inch soft, light weight and malleable 'Happy Eyes' wrapped in a small piece of plastic wrap worked perfectly for me.
Happy Eyes are only $2.00 each and can also be used for warmth.

Someone did some testing.....
Using a 1.65 kilowatt microwave, we heated each of the pads for thirty seconds. Using a food thermometer, we measured how warm the pad was right when we took it out. And then how warm it was after sitting out for five minutes.

As a reference, we heated a cup of water to 140° and found it had cooled to 124° in five minutes.

Rice: 140° out of the microwave. Five minutes later had cooled to 136°.

Dried Corn: 158° out of the microwave. Five minutes later had cooled to 142°.

Flaxseed: 144° out of the microwave. Five minutes later had cooled to 142°. This one retained the most amount of heat.

Two additional plugs for rice, which came in second: rice is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water and then releases it when it is heated. You may have put a little rice into a salt shaker to absorb the water that can invade – especially in humid climates – so the salt will shake more freely. When you use rice in your heat packs it delivers moist heat, which can be quite beneficial. Putting a small cup or bowl of water into the microwave when using any of the fillers inside the heating pads can help with moisture.
AND rice had the least smell.

Hot/Cold Therapy Packs can be used on any part of the body.....

Treating shoulder pain often involves soothing inflammation (swelling and redness). Reducing inflammation is important in rotator cuff injuries, tendonitis and arthritis, and other shoulder injuries.

Cold compresses can help reduce swelling in the shoulder. Cooling also helps to numb sharp pain. Apply an ice pack for up to 20 minutes, up to five times a day. Heat helps to relax tense muscles and soothe a stiff shoulder. It can help with muscle pain and arthritis in the shoulder.

Alternating cold and heat is another option.

Someone asked and here is the answer.....

A warm compress (heat therapy) is an excellent way to quickly and effectively relieve sinus pressure and pain. Apply a warm compress over the nose and forehead to relieve sinus pressure and nasal congestion and soothe a sinus headache. A flexible, microwavable heating pad may be more comforting than a wet wash cloth as a natural remedy for headache.

It will help warm the nasal passages and loosen secretions. You can also alternate warm and cold compresses to relieve sinus pain and sinus pressure.

As a side note: The extra fancy long grain rice that I use in the Body Soothers is a product of THAILAND.
