GIVING GREEN
Russ understands “the job to make more people aware of the golf industry's broad commitment to environmental sustainability" needs to be an on-going mission. With that objective in mind, he conceptualized an even more ambitious venture: a series of Nature of Golf publications intended to educate as well as to fundraise. To assist with this latest undertaking, Russ recruited three of t

he game's leading insiders: Joann Dost (Pacific Grove, CA), a world-ranked golf course photographer; Ann Liguori (Westhampton, NY), an award-winning interviewer; and Brian McCallen (Stonington, CT), a renowned golf travel writer. As a former golf course superintendent and long-time supporter of worthy organizations—such as the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Audubon International and my own Rotary Club of Regina Oskaya—any additional attention this on-line blog generates can only help with our fundraising efforts for another very worthy organization: the Environmental Institute for Golf, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America's philanthropic arm. The Nature of Golf Group was founded more than a dozen years ago to showcase some of the golf world's leading examples of eco-friendly developments. Our initial publication received outstanding testimonials from individuals associated with many of the game's iconic institutions, including:
PGA Tour,
United States Golf Association,
Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA),
American Society of Golf Course Architects
The Golf Channel.
